Anyone else find that the fingerprint sensor on galaxy's are very picky.
I've got both a S20 FE 5G and S23 Ultra and both are very finicky with fingerprints even if I remove and redo them.
Washing hands, a little blemish or scratch on finger stops it from working. This in turn stops the security working on other apps unless I remove fingerprint recognition.
Go to my Pixel 3XL which has sensor on the back I have no problems and this is same with Huawei P20 Pro it doesn't have problems.

Face unlock on android is rubbish compared to apple face unlock so no point using that, so it looks like back to passwords/pin to use phone and apps.

Visa Versa @walkerx

Not used the Pixel 🤣

The fingerprint sensor on the Fold³ is on the power button which I believe makes all the difference.

The version on the Samsung Galaxy s²³ Ultra phones being the under the display ultrasonic sensor I think does not work as well due to my dry skin.

Daily Driver > Samsung Galaxy s²⁵ Ultra 512Gb ~ Titanium Black.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

For me both fingerprint and face recognition work optimally. Also using Samsung screen protector.

I have S23 Ultra and have no issues with fingerprints at all.

I can see dry fingers causing an issue as dry skin isn't easily read but that's the same even with border control in the US

I had this issue previously but have found it is due to how you scan your fingerprint. When I scan my finger print I try to cover every possible angle and position even just the tip and now it works instantly every time. There is the odd rare occasion when it won't scan on the lock screen so I just use the pin once then it goes ok. Strange thing is I have only ever encountered an issue on the lock screen and never on any of the apps which tells me there is a minor blip when the phone is locked. Also dust or grubby build up on the fingerprint area can cause issues and things like hand creams etc. Also as you pointed out if your skin is too dry it can be tricky but a quick lick and wipe of your finger tip sorts that. I use the Samsung film screen protector which I wipe over from time to time as it can get a bit smeared possibly from sweat or contamination from fingers or environment etc. Hope this helps

I've been using my S23fe for about a month now and had a lot of issues with my right fingerprint. I tried deleting and re-adding my right finger print multiple times with little to no success.

I tried two new things and now my right finger print has been working substantially better now (90%+ success rate).

I know this sounds strange but for one I didn't rename my finger print in the biometrics screen.

The 2nd thing I did was when registering my right thumb was trying multiple different angles (facing my thumb toward the left side of the screen, top side, and right side) all while registering my right thumb print.

Now it's been working night and day better. No idea if the renaming the fingerprint changes anything but now that it's working I'm not changing anything.
