My error HEIF is picture and HEVC for video.

It's basically compression techniques. For pictures, it's better than jpeg, but youll find some apps dont like HEIF, assuming your not shooting in Pro .raw

I mostly shoot pro raw yes. So you advise to have it on or off? I don't store or upload stuff to social medias really, at least not at the moment. I hear a simple edit, even a slight crop, then makes HEIF compatible for those that don't usually conform with HEIF

I would say off and use .raw if you want uncompressed.
Recall problems with HEIF when I ran iPads alongside my Samsung mobile and tablets, also Windows I think doesn't like HEIF either.

I liken it to audio files. You either get lossless (uncompressed, huge files) or lossy (compressed such as mp3).

I'm so rech savvy so picking up buts here and there. Are uncompressed images a larger file but better quality overall?
