Causes of significant battery drain in S23 ultra after May 24 update ?

Hi,

I have noticed that the mobile S23 Ultra's battery drains very fast after May 2024 update.

Noting that I have not download any new apps, I have no heating issues with the mobile, same mobile setting as no Bluetooth, no mobile data.

Before May 24 update while the battery on the protective mode ( Charge to only 80% ), I had the following:

Screen on time was 7.5 - 8.5  hours

Screen off time was  20 - 24 hours.

After May 24 update:

While on the same setting and same battery mode now the screen on time 5-6 hours

Screen off time 10- 14 hours

It's really disappointing,  abd frustrating.

This proves the bad play from Samsung to suck our money buying the expensive devices for the specifications then it plays in the updates to push us to buy new mobiles, Samsung should understand this way will reversely impact the reputation.

Really frustrating !!!

Exactly the same battery drain on my S23 Ultra since the May One UI update.
The problem has been pretty widely reported but so far no response from Samsung.
Everyone is presuming it's a bug of some sort because of the major drop in battery life to below the battery life claims on Samsung promotional literature for the phone.
No way can it be put down to one year's use from new.

Thought they'd have fixed it by now.

Hey there

Usually when there is significant battery drain after an update, a rogue app or apps are to blame.

It is recommended that you perform a Wipe Partition Cache on your device first and then allow the device time to re-learn your usage patterns.

Secondly, look at what is actually using the battery the most and whether it should be.

Updates themselves are not usually the cause, just the symptom.

I have an S24 Ultra on One UI6.1 and usually get between 9 and 11 hours screen on (mostly streaming).

Im having the same problem on my s23u lost about 2 hrs of sot but I've read that there was another may update being prepared to fix it but has been delayed and it will now come with the June patch instead so hopefully shouldn't need to wait much longer

Lots of people have reported a change in battery life after the updates.

Rumours are floating there is a battery optimised June update in The works along with a camera updatenas well.

Definitely look out for the June update.

Hi daer,

The solutions you have mentioned are well known, I tried all of them, non has worked.

Its definitely the new system update 6.1 as noticed by many users.

It might be a problem of incompatibility between the 6.1 update and S23 Ultra, as its working well on S24 ultra as you have mentioned.

Ok, If the new update has fixed this battery issue, is it possible to keep this update on the mobile and stop it from updating further in the future ?
