I am not sure when this started, but whenever I use my phone, the battery drain is uniform until it hits 50%, then it drops very sharply to 20%. It happened twice today; I haven't changed any settings on it. The last update was on the 15th of January, and I do not game on my phone. The first time it happened, I got confused and charged it up, and then I had a video call that lasted roughly 80 minutes. I then switched to Instagram and started scrolling through reels. I checked the battery life and I had about 53% I continued using Instagram, and about 10 minutes later, I checked, and it was at 21%. I can't understand what would make the battery completely ignore 30% worth of charge or what would cause such a profound drain. I have attached the battery chart from device care.

Hello 👋 @ibitope

Welcome to the Samsung Community Forum.

There is a diagnostic tool found in the Samsung Members App to see if that highlights anything.

The Device Care section you've been in will show what Apps are using battery and if it's excessive.

The optimisation tool may help.

Samsung Battery Tips.

May I suggest to perform a forum search as you may find already existing threads with help and advice within.

Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop or use a Tv's USB Port or a usb-c to usb-c phone to phone set up to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files.There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too { Possibly excluding the s²⁴ Series of phone's }

A last resort is a factory reset before letting a Samsung Service Centre having hands on.

If i can be of any further help please don't hesitate to ask  😎

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.
I'm here to help. " This is the way. "

Try diagnostics via Samsung members app and also wipe phone cache partition

If it continues contact Samsung support via Members app

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

This is very strange. I would run the diagnostics in the Device Care/Members app first. As others suggested, clearing the cache would be a smart thing to do; worst case, a factory reset. If all else fails, it might be worth contacting Samsung to see their solution.

I was reading comments elsewhere regarding Sammy sending updates to deliberately make the camera's not as good anymore to force you into buying a new S25 model, giving the illusion it's better. Really hope this is not true. But I've read a few people pointing this out. Just thought I'd point out what I was reading. IPhones did this before. Not saying they tinkered with the battery power, but food for thought..

I have noticed similar as well.

For me it's feels like it drops quicker from 40% onwards.

Samsung does have a history of weird behaviours.

The battery does average around the day to an average of 8 hours SOT for me though depending how I use the phone.

It lasts a day for my usage and being an overnight charger I am not that bothered at the moment.

These "theories" have so many obvious flaws in them, it's hardly worth a thought, let alone a mention.

I followed the advice given; I cleared the cache partition and ran the diagnostic tool from the members application. It didn't find any issues with the phone, and I decided to watch the phone as I used it. This time it didn't have a crazy drop from 50%, but when it got to 24%, my phone died, and when I plugged it in, it showed a zero percent charge and is currently charging. Now I don't know if it is a software issue, but it is really annoying.

Everyone knows Apple did it. Remember batterygate? It's definitely not unheard of. I'm not saying sammy would do it. Some of the comments I've read come across really sincere with the same points, etc. Alternatively, it's just a bug that'll iron out in the next update. Strange how sometimes some are affected and some are not with the same update.

Believe it or not, what Apple done there is something all mufacturers do. It was to help preserve batteries and optimise for weakening devices. People that typically do not understand a technical change, this goes double for software, often like to create stories in their own mind. It's human nature, the mystery, the unknown, part of the human condition.
