I'm experiencing a huge change in battery behaviour in my S23 Ultra after the One UI 6.1 update!

It's terrible! The battery life was excellent before the update, now - the phone barely survives a day, I have to charge it up during a day, it never happened before.

This has to be related to the update. I hope Samsung will fix this ASAP as this really cripples the phone!

If the fix won't happen, and some rumors turn out to be true (Samsung trying to push users to get a new gen phone) it'll be my last Samsung phone! I've paid so much money for the highest model only to have my battery life cut almost in half by a software update one year after! Insane.

Hi All,

My S23 Ultra still operates on One UI 5.1 version/Adnroid 13. I just can't convince myself to upgrade to the latest version after I read so many threads related to 6 and 6.1 issues on s23 Ultra since October 2023. Many of them have not been fixed till today...

Do you think I should upgrade anyway? I'm concerned about security updates. Last one I got was in October 2023.

I had all the problems that people say after getting the UI 6.1. However, once I factory resetted the phone and reinstalled everything (without retrieving apps and settings from backups), everything is fine again. I guess the update is so heavy and not compatible with older files. Go for it, but factory reset afterwards if you find any trouble.

In my case factory reset solved all problems. After that, I did not have to desactivate anything and the phone works fine with the IA features. No battery drain or heating up.

I had all the problems with UI 6.1. I factory resetted the phone without retrieving data from back ups and it is working great again without even having to desactivate IA or anything. It worked for me in a S23.

UI 6.1, then factory reset without retrieving data from back up worked for me. It is working perfectly now with 6.1.

Same. Battery drain like crazy with the 6.1 update.

I'm facing the same issues. For me, it last just 8 9 hours even if I'm not using my phone. There's a significant decrease in battery performance.

I had my S23 plus on power saving for about a week because I was annoyed with the fast drain. I took it off power saving two days ago and am having no problems with battery life or charging speed. I'm getting about a day and 8 hours if I charge to 80 percent (I use the battery protection feature). I don't think Samsung issued an update, so I'm not sure why things have changed. I'm also not having any heating or performance issues. Wish I had an explanation... Maybe somebody else can try power saving for a week and then turning it off?

I'm having the exact same problem and it was instantly noticeable. I also have the s23 ultra through atnt that I literally paid for about 6 months ago, the battery life and the charge speed were fine, would last me the day atleast, after the most recent update my phone can go from fully charged to dead in about 6 hours with power saving on the entire time. It doesn't hold a charge at all anymore and like you, I feel it's not a coincidence that the s24 gets released and now my battery won't stay charged. If this persists, this also will be the last samsung product I buy after being a loyal customer since the s5 active.
