This is exactly what I wanted to know.
When doing a major update they always recommend a factory data reset, WITHOUT recovering a complete backup.
I intend to do a factory reset, recovering only SMS, call log and little else, but reinstalling all the applications manually.
Thanks for the information.

I did the UI 6.1 update on April 18 2024.
Two times since then I went to sleep at night with ample charge left on the battery and the phone died to 0% overnight. The first time it happened I woke up and assumed I was streaming something and fell asleep forgetting to close.
Yesterday however I charged to 100% at 6pm, used here and there until about 2:30am where I had 47% left and just pressed the power button once so it would turn off the display. When I woke up this morning it was at 0% !?!
Since then I thought about my battery issues since the new update and I used to go charging every 1.5 to 2 days...now 80 percent to 20 percent happens with 5 hours SOT.
I have been a loyal Samsung customer since my first smartphone, a Note 4, in 2013. Last summer I saved for 4 months to buy the S23 Ultra for $2000 for my birthday. I had planned to use this phone for years and have recommended it to so many people. I feel so embarrassed and angry with what's happening.
Picture this, I have a backup s10e I use like an iPod and for streaming and last night I went to sleep with 57 percent battery on that. I woke up and it had only dropped to 49 percent while the S23 Ultra died completely.
My work schedule is so busy I don't have time to reset and set up my phone all over again. So frustrated and don't know what to do. I thought Samsung was a brand that cared about their customers instead of rolling updates that cause problems to existing devices to force them to buy new again.

Samsung is a lot of things, but definitely not a brand that cares about their customers.

Also, I feel everyone's frustration, but to suggest or think that Samsung does these things to force people to buy a new Samsung is absolutely laughable.

I see this was posted 4 weeks ago. Did Samsung give up?
We should be able to get refunds when they screw us like this.

Well, not intentionally, but they might be less concerned because of assuming an upgrade. I hope this will cost them on the long run. Just on my part, they lost me and three from my family to Apple. We all had the eco-system. Long time tempted by Apple, now came the final blow.

Why is there no official Samsung communication on this!
Just roll back the update until you figure it out.

I'll be following suit. Samsung user since 2009 pre smartphone, the decrease in power using on the 23 Ultra after this update has been abysmal, as has the silence from Samsung on this issue.
Make no mistake they'll do it again. It's time to give iphone a first ever try for me, something I thought I'd never have to do. Absolutely *****-poor, Samsung.
