I'm experiencing a huge change in battery behaviour in my S23 Ultra after the One UI 6.1 update!

It's terrible! The battery life was excellent before the update, now - the phone barely survives a day, I have to charge it up during a day, it never happened before.

This has to be related to the update. I hope Samsung will fix this ASAP as this really cripples the phone!

If the fix won't happen, and some rumors turn out to be true (Samsung trying to push users to get a new gen phone) it'll be my last Samsung phone! I've paid so much money for the highest model only to have my battery life cut almost in half by a software update one year after! Insane.

Absolutely, this is too late. I already turned my sadness of the last Samsung in to an excitement over my coming iPhone experience.

Samsung, you messed it up baaaadly.

Same issue! I rarely have to charge my phone before evening, no new apps, not using any apps longer than usual. Internet page loads are very slow. My battery used to last 14 hours and now it's more like 7!  Plus it is not charging as fast as normal and seems to be hotter when charging. It all happened after the last update!!

Samsung please fix the ASAP 😁

I have performed a factory reset and that seems to have fixed my problem.  It took many hours to rest everything.

Same issue, have had it for months. S23 Ultra Overheating, ONE UI home consistently at the top of the list of apps using the most battery life.

Completely unacceptable for their flagship device that retails at such a high price. Not impressed!

do you have any data, re: before - after? , obviously a big step that I would need to allocate time for

I really struggle to see is this a edge case (some set of configuration that the update didn't consider) or if this was just accepted as part of new udpate tradeoffs (to have an AI integration from marketing perspective). its a tough pill to swallow, I thought I finally found a device that thought I would keep for three years.   Very leary of plunking down the fold when it it appears (was going to be my first), but not to happy with lack of attention here (this forum which seems obvious place to respond/collect feedback) .. which makes me think we are outliers.

Hi ALL,

Thought I would update you here as Samsung seems unable to advise on how to correctly resolve the issue.

After months of varying attempts at fixing the overheating and insane battery drain I believe I have finally found the solution. Recently 'repair apps' was removed from the bootloader leaving us with no real way of re optimizing applications after major updates, I have found the App Booster does much the same thing but it is only available online -

https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/samsung-electronics-co-ltd/app-booster/app-booster-5-1-03-release/sams...

I have used this today and noticed an immediate improvement in battery life. Hopefully this is finally resolved, but time will tell. Best of luck everyone!

I have a s22 ultra and thought I was going mad. Used to last all day with about 20 - 40% left but now have to charge around the tea time. Absolutely rubbish. Today (Sunday) no phone calls a couple of texts no other use and it's run out at 20:00.

Yes I am also facing the same. Battery drain faster after december update too.  In Dec 2024 i purchased it. Then after 6.1 update it affects battery.  After purchased  for  3-4 months it battery life was good. But after update for 6.1 and recent 1 december 2024 patch, battery draining faster. When I start logging and writing this comment the battery was 28% and now it's 27%. You can imagine how it's battery works. Worst experience. Is samsung doing the same thing as like apple? In updates the degrading the performance so that people buy latest phone? For samsung, existing customers doesn't valuable who purchased the latest samsung phone s23 ultra ? Don't know why samsung going on the apple's path of degrading the performance through security patch updates.

This is very much STILL happening. My s22 did the same thing which made me get the s23. I'm done with Samsung after this, there is no reason any phone s22 and upwards should be so laggy and slow and drain battery fast. They are clearly doing it on purpose.
