I'm experiencing a huge change in battery behaviour in my S23 Ultra after the One UI 6.1 update!

It's terrible! The battery life was excellent before the update, now - the phone barely survives a day, I have to charge it up during a day, it never happened before.

This has to be related to the update. I hope Samsung will fix this ASAP as this really cripples the phone!

If the fix won't happen, and some rumors turn out to be true (Samsung trying to push users to get a new gen phone) it'll be my last Samsung phone! I've paid so much money for the highest model only to have my battery life cut almost in half by a software update one year after! Insane.

Hello,

Same here. I have payed thousand+ eur for my S23+ since i am a big fan of galaxy phones. If this isn't going to be fixed very soon I will swap to Iphone for sure.

I've noticed that the phone overheats drastically when I use YouTube app on the background. Battery dies 3-4 times quicker now. It's absurd.

I have a galaxy s23

Update (for my S23 256 Gb)

  • desactivation of all IA related parameters : no effects, still higher battery usage
  • software update / security update 1st aprl 2024 : no change for the battery.
  • the phone feels warmer while using it (moderate use, no gaming)
  • the phone seems to charge slightly faster than before

I CAN'T understand how such a big company like Samsung can push out an update without noticing such a big drawback / issue.

It's extremely disappointing and amateur to be honest.  Up until this plague of an update my S23 Ultra was performing like a dream.

It's the last Samsung I'll ever buy if they can't/won't rectify it.

Now I know why people jump to Apple. It would kill me to do that but for what I need, I may consider it unless this disaster is reversed.

Saw someone say that the 6.1 UI update switched performance from light to standard. If you search for performance profile in settings and switch it to light, maybe the issue will be resolved a bit?

Everyone, they can see this. It will get fixed. It's been less than a month. Apple had the issue in the past, they eventually get it fixed.

I did get the update, I thought maybe it was not fixed. But I unplugged at 80% last night. It's now at 74% still. Not bad, 1% an hour.

While waiting for the fix, I put a most of unused apps in deep sleep.  For ex, I find that the Facebook drains my battery really fast, so, I limit it's background use and put in deep sleep when not in use.  Did the same for other apps.  My battery goes from 80% to 75% in 5hrs! Helped a lot.
