This never really worked well with my S8, no surprise it doesn't work at all with my new S22. When I dial a number manually or receive a call I'd sometimes like to create a new contact with that number. This was difficult on the S8, seems to be impossible on the S22. Selecting and holding the number does nothing except pull up the trashcan. Opening contacts does nothing, apparently this wasn't considered in the design.

Any help would be appreciated!

There is no "add contacts" option when I select a number on the "recent" list which I just dialed. I get the trashcan.

I think there is probably some option I need to select or unselect that will enable this. Thanks everyone for your input but please stop telling me "it's there, you just click (select) the number on the recent screen". No It's NOT there, that's the problem! If someone knows what option I need to select to enable this please let me know.

Long pressing the number on recent calls screen brings up the delete option. Just tapping it brings up an option to add to contacts (there are various reasons you would want to do that). From what you are describing, the option you're getting is from long pressing.

You must me the unluckiest person to go through so many samsung phones with these issues. I have had Samsung since the S1 and never had any sort of issue you are claiming to have. They had their issues but certainly weren't 'flaky' as you've put it.
If you're saying the option is not there and to stop telling you it is, you need to stop posting as no one here can help you. Take your phone to a store or send it in to be looked at. There is no 'Option' to enable what you are saying. It's just there by default.

Long press, short press, upside down press, all only show the trashcan. If you don't want to help I understand, but don't tell me Samsung phones aren't flaky. They are.

Opened "apps" and turned "allow notifications" for the contacts app, did a restart. It now works: Press the number in the "recents" list and I get the option to save the number in contacts.

I think we are all trying to help but your attitude is not the best (at this point mine probably isn't either). People are trying to help and explain to you the way it is supposed to work and you respond by saying to stop telling you...
You are seriously coming off as a troll now and i'm wondering if you are actually facing any problems of the sort. Your comments which display your attitude towards Samsung paints a different story. I haven't seen anyone reporting the issue you are having. Not on this forum or others on the internet. Either you reset your device and start over or get your device looked at by a professional.

Why thank you, especially the part about calling me a troll after trolling my posts!

Glad you got it sorted in the end. To be fair nobody should have to enable anything to have the contacts save. It just works out of the box. I can understand how frustrated you must be, I would be exactly the same but well done for sussing it out.
