Same here, and today I got the dumbest message from the support team: "Enter the app, and do this and that from inside the app". 😓 I am asking for your support because I cannot enter the app, you *******! I have a strong impression we are speaking to bots. Anyway, today, I was able to solve the issue (at least for now). Here's what did it for me.
- I installed and launched the Microsoft launcher (I don't think this had an impact, I just prefer it to the Samsung one, but I am listing it here case it is relevant).
- I uninstalled WhatsApp (checking that I wanted to keep my data) for the tenth time.
- I reinstalled WhatsApp from the WhatsApp website (you have to give Chrome the permission to do it, as explained in another post).
Outcome: I actually lost most of the conversations (despite checking that I wanted to keep my data) but now at least the app works.
Hypothesis: The bug has to do with messages or media shared on WhatsApp, and accidentally clearing most of my convos (in particular, all the recent ones) was what did it. If it ever happens again (I hope not!), I will first erase all my recent messages (up to before the bug occurred) from WhatsApp web. If it doesn't fix the issue, I will redo these steps and hope for the best.
