👋

Bit of a weird one for me, and I can't find the solution to it so I'm hoping someone else can shed some light.

On the status bar, while on homescreen, it doesn't show all icons. IE NFC is on for example but it doesn't reflect on the bar. See below image. It's the same if I turn Bluetooth on aswell.

But, when I pull down to get my notification section it does show to be on. See below.

A few days ago it was absolutely fine so the issue has just cropped up. It could be that it's quite late and I've overlooked something but for the life of me I can't figure it out 🤭

I did do a FDR so maybe that's messed something up maybe? Idk.

EDIT: checked out QuickStar module for a workaround but everything is showing as on already and also, when I toggle on of the status icon options the status bar, right handside flashes, but doesn't actually change.

Also I did install system configuration update too so idk if the problem started before or after this.

Expected behaviour for the bluetooth icon (implemented in Android 12 i think). When bluetooth is on, then the icon is only visible when you pull down from the top of the screen. As for NFC, that SHOULD appear regardless. Have you got a mode or routine that affects the NFC icon. For instance, I use a routine that only turns on NFC when I open my Wallet app and turns off after payment is made.

Yeah I did have routine on for the same reason. I've just removed it to see if this was the cause but nope, still doesn't show up 🤔

Also, I tried power saving mode, mobile hot-spot and also the S pen icon all come up fine.

As far as I can see it's just NFC that's not flagging up the icon.

Okay. So don't worry about the Bluetooth one as said, it's expected behaviour. If you want to test the NFC icon, then boot to safe mode and check NFC icon behaviour. Safe mode will disable all 3rd party apps and customisations and will allow you to figure out what's going on. You'll need to toggle off flight mode whilst in safe mode. See my screenshots showing the phone in safe mode and shows NFC on the homescreen but bluetooth only when the screen is swiped down1717200384794_1717200384785_0.jpg1717200411756_1717200411752_0.jpg

As said, it'll be one of your customisations that's affecting the NFC icon. See my post above regarding testing in Safe Mode.

Exactly the same behaviour on my 23+ I do use the QuickStar GoodLock module but that doesn't change the behaviour. I've never checked tbh as I'm happy it's not there, but interested why it's only showing for some, not others.

Edit.
Having read around (Google search for Samsung Galaxy NFC icon) there's a fair few posts suggesting this is normal behaviour (to not show the icon). Apparently it turns on briefly after it's been used for a payment etc, but the consensus seems to be it's not visible by default

Edit. Reading this thread, it seems to be a bit of a mystery why some have it but not others:

Ah see when I was searching I was basing it on the status bar glitching maybe. It was late, I was tired, so didn't think about searching specifically for NFC.

But yes, that is super weird.

I've also noticed that NFC doesn't appear on lockscreen either. So when I open my Wallet now I can't see if NFC has gone on as per routine then turned off when closed. It was 💯 there the other day.

I'm also interested to see why some have and some don't, and also why it would suddenly stop showing up for some. The only changes I've made recently are FDR, system configuration update and also transferred number to a new network - so one of them have done it (I can't see how network would impact a little icon showing or not so I doubt it's that.)

I'd expect it's the system configuration update (maybe related to new network) My performance profile and Bluetooth don't show either but I think that's standard behaviour.

My uneducated guess is it's to do with the space allowed in that area of the status bar. Maybe some information in that area related to network is hidden, but would still be using that space, is my best guess as to why others don't have it. If you took the sim card out, I wonder whether it would reappear?
