Can only smartphones being purchased directly from Samsung be eligible for Samsung care+. for example if i buy the S22 ultra from a third party for example BT shop website. even tho it is brand new will it still be eligible for the insurance even tho that device is nearly 6 months past it's release date?

Hello @Brodster097

Yes you can add Samsung Care+ to a Samsung phone not purchased directly from Samsung.

Below is the link and an excerpt.

How and where to buy

Getting covered is easy. On Samsung.com, you can buy Samsung Care+ cover at the time you purchase your device. Alternatively, you can visit the Samsung Care+ online shop within six months of purchase to buy a policy. If you purchased from a Samsung Experience Store, you can either buy at the time of purchase or within 30 days from a store.

For devices bought from other retailers, you have six months from purchase to register your device and buy Samsung Care+ cover.

The advice I offer is my own and does not represent Samsung’s position.

Have a look at any existing policies that you may have for home insurances, bank accounts etc as they may already offer mobile telephone cover. Up until last year I had a package via work that covered life insurance, injury, travel, and up to 4 mobile phones in the household for damage / loss-stolen & replacement within 48hrs.
