is any one else going to send back their S22 Ultra in Europe if the Exynos chip is as bad as receent tests are making out against the Snapdragon chip? I am fed up with getting screwed over by Samsung with the poor variant of the chips in their flagship phones in Europe.

I have had a plus then ultra Samsung phones since the S6 Edge+ (what a beautiful phone). I am unsure when I joined the Samsung upgrade program, but I just feel after the last few Exynos chipped phones Samsung has given us an inferior product, poor cooling in S20, poor performance in the S21, until Octobers update. I would love to be surprised and find after opening the box and turning it on, there is a software update waiting which puts everything right, but I am not holding my breath.

I begrudge paying good money for an inferior product to the rest of the world, even Samsung's home country and India get a Snapdragon this year... hmmm, what is that telling us?
So what do we do, do we wait like we did for the S21 in 2021 another 8 months to get an update, which at least brings the chips up to par with Gen8.1 or send it back and wait a further 4 months till 2023 for the Exynos/AMD v2.
You may say in real world use you won't notice the difference, so then there is not going to be any great difference between the S22 Ultra and my S21 Ultra, but I am not going to waste £1,329 on the poor brother of the S22 Ultra. 2022 might be the year I skip a generation.

I 100% agree, I’ve always used apple. Power, balance, optimisation for all the apps and I’ve owned a couple of androids too so I thought I would treat myself to something different and order the s22. I too will be cancelling or returning if there’s a difference in the chips. All these apologists are glossing over the fact.. why the hell should we have to wait for updates on a product that costs this much money! I’ve not seen this where a phone has 2 different chips catering to different markets around the world! It’s almost laughable at their thought process on why they do this. They should be exact equal so no buyer feels shafted. But I’m with you including 3 of my friends 1 of which who has actually cancelled his order…that’s just in my very small town. What’s worse is them keeping quiet on an issue that’s important to their consumers, all you get is “well don’t worry we will give you an update closer to release” (did it not cross their mind to sort this out during production, quality tests, benchmark tests, in-house comparisons to the competition?) nooooo, we will wait till you all purchase it then slowly drop out updates every month so that in a years time you will have a stable phone!! Playtime is definitely over.

Well said, il be joining you trust me you are far from alone I know someone who has already cancelled a 2 others waiting to receive it before they send back. I’m not waiting for nearly a year of updates for a phone to be on par with the snapdragon gen 1. Not when I could just order the apple 13 pro which is a monster.

Well it seems the new S22 Ultra's being received by people in UK are not having the best of times with them...

https://www.notebookcheck.net/Exynos-2200-vs-Snapdragon-8-Gen-1-Samsung-s-new-chipset-fares-worse-in...

and the Samsung Community and Reddit are full of European and UK users with a graphics / screen glitch with setting the screen mode to natural, 120 Hz and WQHD.

https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS22/comments/sxbrtf/galaxy_s22_exynos_owners_reporting_defective/

really do not want the S22 Ultra now, rather keep my S21 Ultra.

Well cannot cancel order now, as just been notified by Samsung that DPD are delivering my phone tomorrow. So, I will get to see all the issues for myself, and compare against my S21 Ultra, to see which I keep.

For the first time in my mobile phone life, I am not excited about receiving a new phone.

😞

I was so excited too lol until I started seeing all the articles and videos. One thing that boggles the mind is you would think Samsung and AMD  joining forces would mean a guaranteed stronger chip then the SD 888 gen 1 considering the reputations. So much so that even before patches it would at the least be on par with the SD 888 gen 1. It’s a lovely looking phone, and I know it’s not a bad phone but £1200 is too bitter a pill to swallow to have it perform the same or some cases less then last years model. I don’t have the patience to wait for months for updates to drop to clean bugs that should have been cleared before launch to the consumer. I am hoping for some miracle patch on day 1 or week 1 (before my 14 day return policy is over) that appeases me and all of you who feel the same way.

You will have to wait in line, along with the Galaxy S20, Exynos, users from 2 years ago who are still awaiting their, "miracle patch".

Lol why are you quoting me and highlighting “miracle patch” like a drama queen who took it personally 😂 I am fully aware of the s20 fanbois getting cheated with their updates but the s21 after several patches got stabilised. There is a 1% chance Samsung may have learnt from the s21 and will drop an all in one patch but it makes no difference to me as I’m still happy as can be using my apple phone and M1 iPad Pro for mobile gaming, but I definitely hope it gets sorted for original Samsung fans as it’s about time they got what they paid for considering it is 2022.
