This morning, my phone seemed dead and didn't turn on with the power button.
I got it to start booting with Volume Down + Power Button, but unfortunately it is now stuck in a boot loop, alternating between black screen, "SAMSUNG" only and "SAMSUNG Galaxy Secured by Knox Powered by Android", never going any further.
Connecting it to my laptop and using Volume Up + Power Button, I got to the recovery menu. I tried cleaning the cache partition with unclear results:
-- Wiping cache...
Formatting /cache...
Cache wipe failed.
Cache wipe complete.
So did it fail or complete?
This did not help. When I choose Reboot, I return to the boot loop.
Then I tried to shut it down from the recovery menu. It just hung in that state for a while and then returned to the recovery menu:
Any Ideas what I can try next? I'd like to avoid a factory reset if possible.

search the forum (all eu, country specific, us, etc...), reddit, articles there are hundreds of thousands of people with a same issue, Samsung ruined your phone and you can try anything it won't fix it, we already tried it, so save your time, read and sue! Class action suit must be established if no other way around was provided for us!

I had the same issue, so I cleared the cache in safe mode, did not work, so rest it to factory setting, phone was back running post that, however would still hang and restart randomly. Some where in one of the forums, I had read that disabling weather widget and uninstalling outlook resolves the issue, and so I tried it and voila, the issue is now resolved, Its been 10 hours with out restart (with few lagging here and there and when multiple apps open) but I guess its because I am using the phone on battery optimised mode
