Dear Samsung Community,

It has come to my attention, and that of many other users, that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, particularly those with Exynos 2200 processors, is experiencing severe hardware failures following the One UI updates. These phones are being rendered completely unusable, stuck in a booting loop, and unable to power on.

Key Issues Identified:

  1. Overheating Leading to Motherboard Failure:

    • The phone overheats, particularly when using Wi-Fi.
    • Users report that once the phone begins disconnecting Wi-Fi automatically, the damage to the motherboard has already occurred.
  2. One UI Update Triggering Failures:

    • The issues seem to be exacerbated by the 6.1 One UI update, which appears to stress the motherboard components beyond their tolerance, leading to irreversible damage.
  3. Warranty Expiration Problem:

    • Many users are left helpless because the issues typically manifest after the warranty period ends, leaving them with expensive repairs or the need to purchase a new phone.
  4. No Official Acknowledgment from Samsung:

    • Despite numerous user complaints across platforms like Reddit, Samsung forums, and other tech communities, Samsung has yet to officially acknowledge or address this problem.

Call to Action:

As a dedicated Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra user, I, like many others, invested significant time and money in purchasing this flagship device. For example, I personally pre-ordered the phone, waited four months for delivery, and paid approximately €1,450. I expected a premium product, not a device that fails due to a software update and poor hardware design.

Therefore, I urge all Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra users facing similar issues to:

  1. Join forces and collectively address this issue to Samsung's CEO and executive team.
  2. Demand accountability from Samsung, including:
    • A global recall of affected devices.
    • Free motherboard replacements for all impacted phones, regardless of warranty status.
    • Alternatively, financial compensation for those who purchased these defective devices.

This Is Not Normal:

Samsung must acknowledge that their software updates directly contributed to the motherboard failures. It is unacceptable that users are left to bear the costs of repairing or replacing a flagship device due to Samsung’s oversight.

A United Front:

Together, we can amplify our voices and ensure that Samsung takes responsibility for this issue. It is time for them to address the concerns of their loyal customers who trusted them to deliver a reliable product.

Let’s work together to bring this matter to the attention of Samsung’s leadership. Every affected user deserves resolution, not silence.

Best regards,
[A Concerned Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra User]

My phone updated its software last week, and ever since, it's been plagued with performance issues. It crashed and restarted a few times before ending up in a bootloop yesterday. Before the update, everything was working perfectly. I attempted to access Safe Mode but had no success. I also reached out to Samsung chat support, but the representative was unhelpful and simply advised me to visit a service center. Unfortunately, the service center was equally unhelpful. I even let the battery drain completely, but now the phone vibrates repeatedly whenever I try to charge it.

Has anyone had any success booting into the OS without losing their data? Beyond the issue of planned obsolescence, I think Samsung needs to be held accountable for taking their customers' loyalty for granted. If car manufacturers can issue recalls, why not phone companies? I currently own four Samsung phones and a Samsung TV, but their customer support is worse than Google’s. I'm in Canada and if anyone is pursuing a class-action lawsuit, count me in.

I am facing a critical issue with my Galaxy S22 Ultra , which I purchased in August 2022. The device stopped working on March 25, 2025 (after 2 years and 7 months of use). The service center has diagnosed it as a motherboard issue and quoted Rs. 50,000 for replacement, which is unreasonable considering the problem emerged immediately after the March 1, 2025 software/security patch update. Phone is now completely un-usable state. Tried all the possible troubleshooting, can't go to safe boot mode, unable to enter recovery mode. Almost 200GB of my beautiful memories lost with this daba phone.

This is concerning because:

  1. A premium device costing Rs. 1.3 lakhs has failed prematurely
  2. The timing of the failure coincides with the latest software update
  3. The repair cost is nearly 40% of the original device cost

I strongly believe this requires investigation as it appears the software update may have caused the motherboard failure. I request Samsung to:

  1. Investigate the correlation between the software update and device failure
  2. Consider warranty extension/repair coverage for this specific issue
  3. Provide a more reasonable solution than the quoted repair cost

How we can put pressure on Samsung is a question? They need to address this matter urgently as this seems to be affecting multiple users.

Hi! Welcome to the Samsung Members community!

Please note that this is the forum for the UK/EU.

Also, Samsung Members is for the community (customers), so we cannot assist you. I would suggest reaching out to Samsung directly for this matter.

* I don't believe they will adjust the warranty.
* Repairs are normally done by a third-party trusted by Samsung, so they cannot adjust the price.
* Coincidences happen—things are not always as they appear to be.

In the UK, we have laws such as the Consumer Rights Act and Section 75. Assuming, as you've quoted Rupees, you're not in the right forum.

Also note that your photos should be linked to your Samsung account, so they may not be lost.

If you don't care for the data, you could try using the smart switch recovery system, your PC will then reinstall android on the phone. If the update failed, that might help. You will lose all data on the phone

This issue is reported across the global, why there is no solution yet? Scared to buy any flag ship phones, which bricks and gives sudden surprises.
