S22 Ultra Boot Loop Issues after 6.1 UI / Firmware update.

Hi everyone,

I’m posting because the boot loop issue after the One UI 6.1 update is clearly widespread, and I want to gauge just how big this problem really is.

Is anyone else dealing with a bricked Galaxy S22 or a constant boot loop since the update? I keep seeing new posts about it almost every day.

My phone was working perfectly fine before the update. After installing it, it suddenly stopped working. Now, it’s stuck in a boot loop, and on the rare occasion it gets to the home screen, it crashes and starts looping again.

I’ve tried everything Samsung suggested: clearing the cache, factory resets—you name it. Nothing worked. I even had a Samsung repair tech come to my house. They suggested my motherboard needs to be replaced but refused to fix it under warranty because of a small, superficial crack on my screen (which can barely even be picked up by a camera).

This hairline crack has been there for over a year. It has nothing to do with the motherboard issue, and my touchscreen is working perfectly fine.

What’s even more frustrating is seeing countless others on Reddit, Samsung forums, Twitter, and beyond reporting the same problem—yet Samsung keeps denying responsibility and is shifting the blame onto the consumer.

If Samsung wants to argue that my phone’s reboot loop is caused by a tiny screen crack, then what about everyone else? What about all the other phones with the exact same issue across the globe with 0 screen and cosmetic damage - and the numerous motherboards they’ve already replaced?

The pattern is obvious: this update has caused widespread failures and they are now charging for repairs wherever possible. I even have logs showing the update in question followed by recovery reboots immediately afterward.

It’s outrageous that a £1300 phone has failed in 23 months, and Samsung’s response is a £500+ repair quote for a phone which is laughably now only worth ~£400 brand-new.

That said, I’d really like to hear from others, especially those in the UK but also worldwide, about how you’re handling this situation.

If your phone is out of warranty, you’ve been denied a warranty claim, or you’re experiencing this issue, please share your story. Adding your voice helps build a stronger case and puts more pressure on Samsung to finally take responsibility for this widespread problem.

P.S. If you’re experiencing this issue, and have read this far down - clicking “I have this problem too” under the title of this post may help raise awareness

This started yesterday for my wife's phone...we both have S22 ultras bought at the same time through AT&T. We have 10/36 payments left and her phone is now completely bricked. It just keeps rebooting even after factory reset. It's absurd a software update is potentially to blame for a $1,200 phone and it's dead before we even made it 3 years since purchase. Not sure where to go...she's going by AT&T today to see what can be done.

short term SOLUTION:

Dear Samsung (s22, Ultra) users,

Since yesterday I am experiencing the same problem, and I was so stressed. My phone was continuesly rebooting, and I could not start my phone anymore. I haven't had anything back-upped which made everything even worse. I could almost kill myself (not literally), and was feeling so bad knowing that all my pictures were gone.

But, I was looking through different forums and couldn't really find a solution. My phone is still under warranty, so I was so close to handing my phone to the Samsung dealer untill my phone was finally working for longer than 20 minutes. That made me interested. Why is it working now?

Here in the Netherlands it is really cold outside (4 degrees celsius), and I could link that information to one comment that someone gave on a forum about keeping the phone in the freezer. Now that I have placed my laptop and phone outside (in cold temperatures), I was finally able to back-up my files again.

But I have to say, it works. I think this updated created that the software it too powerfull for this hardware, which created overheating for the components (CPU especially). For what I have found, not everyone is experiencing this problem. So for the people that have been hit by this constant rebooting problem, the CPU might need a reballing (to be able to work again).

and for the short term, if you are just like me, put the phone in a cold, (really) cold environment to be able to make a back-up of all your digital belongings. I hope I am the first one that can make a change, and help people to save their photos and files!

This is also a lesson for myself to always, or regularly backup my stuff. For now, this is what I can share with everyone from my experience.

Personally I am going to factory reset my phone after everything is backed up, and get the motherboard replaced. Because that is the main issue right now.
Hope my phone works well again after that!

Same problem here. The Samsung service center too refused to provide any help and just suggested me buy a new phone.

I am deeply disappointed in the phone and I think I will also switch from this brand since it is quite clearly performing horribly at the moment.

Hi Gautam. What is the solution for this. My S22Ultra is gone too. Just keeps looping at the Samsung and Powered by Android screen. I'm absolutely furious that an update messed up such a flagship. Should we consider a class action suit?

I agree which other brand would you recommend at the moment?

s22 ultra had, arguably still has one of the best cameras out there. Android is a non negotiable for me. Are there any reliable brands out there? My last phone for a Xiaomi Mi6 which i used for 5 years without any issues. It broke and i changed to s22 ultra because i dropped my Mi6 and shattered its screen.

Hi everyone. I got the same problem. My S22 Ultra, only 2 weeks after my warranty expired, is having the same problem. I am just using it without wireless, but only after i reseted the phone. Hope there will be a solution soon, or a new update ti fix this problem.

Dear epGenti. You should consider yourself lucky. My phone went into an endless bootloop and never recovered. I left my phone in the service center today. I'm hoping Samsung will address this issue which is clearly their mistake and either fix the phone or provide a discount for an exchange.

Hi guys, same problem here. After the update on 11th od Deceber. Sometimes it runs for few hours and suddenly in goes to boot loop for even more hours. After reading the whole internet, I don't think taking my phone to Samsung will help, they will suggest changing motherboard for my own money ofc.. I'm so angry. Samsung is totally loosing in phone market and this just adds another nail in the coffin

Hello everyone,
Quick update: after a reboot that lasted 19h I was finally able to enter maintenance mode and launch a wipe cache partition. This allowed my S22 to survive... 24h. Since then, it's been rebooting constantly for over 30 hours without ever turning itself back on completely. During these 24 hours of operation, I tried a backup, but it never succeeded. So I'm going to have to take it to a repair center and certainly lose all its contents... I really don't understand why no new corrective update has been made while we're all struggling.
