S22 Ultra Boot Loop Issues after 6.1 UI / Firmware update.

Hi everyone,

I’m posting because the boot loop issue after the One UI 6.1 update is clearly widespread, and I want to gauge just how big this problem really is.

Is anyone else dealing with a bricked Galaxy S22 or a constant boot loop since the update? I keep seeing new posts about it almost every day.

My phone was working perfectly fine before the update. After installing it, it suddenly stopped working. Now, it’s stuck in a boot loop, and on the rare occasion it gets to the home screen, it crashes and starts looping again.

I’ve tried everything Samsung suggested: clearing the cache, factory resets—you name it. Nothing worked. I even had a Samsung repair tech come to my house. They suggested my motherboard needs to be replaced but refused to fix it under warranty because of a small, superficial crack on my screen (which can barely even be picked up by a camera).

This hairline crack has been there for over a year. It has nothing to do with the motherboard issue, and my touchscreen is working perfectly fine.

What’s even more frustrating is seeing countless others on Reddit, Samsung forums, Twitter, and beyond reporting the same problem—yet Samsung keeps denying responsibility and is shifting the blame onto the consumer.

If Samsung wants to argue that my phone’s reboot loop is caused by a tiny screen crack, then what about everyone else? What about all the other phones with the exact same issue across the globe with 0 screen and cosmetic damage - and the numerous motherboards they’ve already replaced?

The pattern is obvious: this update has caused widespread failures and they are now charging for repairs wherever possible. I even have logs showing the update in question followed by recovery reboots immediately afterward.

It’s outrageous that a £1300 phone has failed in 23 months, and Samsung’s response is a £500+ repair quote for a phone which is laughably now only worth ~£400 brand-new.

That said, I’d really like to hear from others, especially those in the UK but also worldwide, about how you’re handling this situation.

If your phone is out of warranty, you’ve been denied a warranty claim, or you’re experiencing this issue, please share your story. Adding your voice helps build a stronger case and puts more pressure on Samsung to finally take responsibility for this widespread problem.

P.S. If you’re experiencing this issue, and have read this far down - clicking “I have this problem too” under the title of this post may help raise awareness

With you on this. No issues with phone until Saturday morning, wifi dropped out, tried reconnecting and phone rebooted... has repeatedly done it since.  Contact with Samsung Sat, Sun and Mon...

Have submitted multiple reports and spoken to multiple tech supports.

Wifi drops connections, won't allow reconnect and restarts. May not make it past samsung start screen multiple times before getting to OneUI screen.

Software updated, cache cleared, memory plenty, battery health says fine. Wifi drops, phone restarts, repeatedly before settling down. If i spot the wifi drop and try to connect, doesnt allow me to turn wifi on, hot spot doesnt allow either.

To check 3rd party apps, was told to restart in safe mode, which it crashed it. Told to restart in maintenance mode, but you can't do anything with your phone in that mode so not realistic...

Samsung members sent multiple logs.

Told to remove recently added apps, which there weren't any prior to this sudden change, but this started after a system update. Have removed apps added in last month, hasn't made a difference!

Has been constantly cycling through reboots today, this evening got stuck in a boot loop for over 30mins. Eventually came out of it, there was a new update from Samsung, didn't think it could make it worse... couldn't connect to wifi so did it over data network, phone crashed before it could download, then 30min boot loop again... finally managed to get it to do the update and install it... phone now ridiculously hot...

Warranty expired 4 weeks ago.... surprise surprise... isn't this was Apple got busted for, rolling out updates that kill 'older phones'...

Seen lots of members posts from last 18months with s22 and s23... was there ever a solution?

Currently going through a nearly 5 hour boot-loop after the latest software update and reactivating Wi-Fi. May be time for a new phone.

Having the same problem with my Samsung S22 Ultra (Bought in NL)

started with continuous rebooting, and when it's on, the wifi and bluetooth keeps on failing...

Even after complete reset and updates from November, its still not working.

Yesterday I went to the Samsung store, they didnt recognise the problem and also tried to reset my phone, but then it crashed and the now say its my problem because the warrenty is over -_-

So no solution so far, let's hope Samsung will come up with something very soon!

I feel like I wrote this article myself! Been having BootLoop issues since 6.1 update about 2/3 weeks ago, woke up and the phone looked liked it had turned off overnight which I didnt think much off until it was slow at loading pages online then I realised the Wi-Fi wasn't on so switched it on and BOOM boot loop! At first they were only about 10-30 minutes but they have got progressively worse to the point that a few days ago my phone was in a boot loop for 6 hours as I had attempted to turn Wi-Fi on again! If I am using mobile data the phone works perfectly but will crash once a day randomly! I've Tried to get Samsung to repair via warranty they sent out a 3rd party LikeWise but my camera has a slight crack on one of the lenses which doesn't affect the camera at all and has been there for ages, due to this the warranty is void which is just a cop out! Going to attempt to use Odin to flash the Firmware back to 6.0 to see if this works! Has anybody had any joy with getting there's fixed?

Same. My S22 Ultra died while idling in October. Of course, out of warranty, very convenient. First Samsung phone to have a major issue. Two repair shops said motherboard is dead and it would not be economical to repair. Its an IC issue, freezing the phone gets it working for a time. Given the number of cases, I now strongly suspect that the changes made in 6.1 to support AI cause hardware failure in time. Of course, thats almost impossible to prove. I'm sure that over time there will be more and more failures. I hope Samsung starts looking into this before the media does.

Hello all,

The same goes for me in France.
Since the update, my S22 reboots randomly at least 2 times a day. On a daily basis, my phone is unusable for 2 to 4 hours, but this can happen at any time of the day. It's a real handicap not to know when you'll be able to use your phone. I've relied heavily on Samsung's reliability for many years, but I must admit I'm surprised at the lack of communication and solutions on this subject. I've tried every possible repair at my level and the problem persists. Is this an attempt to get customers to upgrade?

Might be an idea to all starting raising complaints about this, surely breaches customer protection laws. The update, similar to others, has caused the boot loop on my phone - I cannot understand how Samsung will not acknowledge this and figure out a fix. I've been on Samsung for  10 plus years, seriously considering a change now this is just shoddy customer service. How many people need to post and point out this is linked to the update before Samsung take it seriously?

Would appeal to all to raise complaints about this to Samsung, and/or your local Customer Protection agency. They can't ignore us all....

Same here, boot loop last week on my S22 Ultra, perfect condition and now is useless. The worst part are my data on the phone not saved. Is any options to recover my data? Thanks in advance.

I'm having this same problem with my s22 ultra. It's frustrating! I have z fold 5 also, it working fine. I tried everything but still the problem persists. Please use the link below it might help

https://www.samsung.com/us/support/troubleshoot/TSG10002308/

I then downsized my pixel to just HD and now the intense boot loop is some what became less frequent.
