Hi everyone,
I’m posting because the boot loop issue after the One UI 6.1 update is clearly widespread, and I want to gauge just how big this problem really is.
Is anyone else dealing with a bricked Galaxy S22 or a constant boot loop since the update? I keep seeing new posts about it almost every day.
My phone was working perfectly fine before the update. After installing it, it suddenly stopped working. Now, it’s stuck in a boot loop, and on the rare occasion it gets to the home screen, it crashes and starts looping again.
I’ve tried everything Samsung suggested: clearing the cache, factory resets—you name it. Nothing worked. I even had a Samsung repair tech come to my house. They suggested my motherboard needs to be replaced but refused to fix it under warranty because of a small, superficial crack on my screen (which can barely even be picked up by a camera).
This hairline crack has been there for over a year. It has nothing to do with the motherboard issue, and my touchscreen is working perfectly fine.
What’s even more frustrating is seeing countless others on Reddit, Samsung forums, Twitter, and beyond reporting the same problem—yet Samsung keeps denying responsibility and is shifting the blame onto the consumer.
If Samsung wants to argue that my phone’s reboot loop is caused by a tiny screen crack, then what about everyone else? What about all the other phones with the exact same issue across the globe with 0 screen and cosmetic damage - and the numerous motherboards they’ve already replaced?
The pattern is obvious: this update has caused widespread failures and they are now charging for repairs wherever possible. I even have logs showing the update in question followed by recovery reboots immediately afterward.
It’s outrageous that a £1300 phone has failed in 23 months, and Samsung’s response is a £500+ repair quote for a phone which is laughably now only worth ~£400 brand-new.
That said, I’d really like to hear from others, especially those in the UK but also worldwide, about how you’re handling this situation.
If your phone is out of warranty, you’ve been denied a warranty claim, or you’re experiencing this issue, please share your story. Adding your voice helps build a stronger case and puts more pressure on Samsung to finally take responsibility for this widespread problem.
P.S. If you’re experiencing this issue, and have read this far down - clicking “I have this problem too” under the title of this post may help raise awareness

Add me to the victim list. BTW I'm from Chennai, India. Have given it to my buddy Mr. Bilal for CPU reballing. He has his lab setup called Bright Communications at the PARSN complex ground floor, near Hotel The Park, near Gemini bridge, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.

I am from India. I have same issue. Now phone is dead and they are asking alot of money to replace motherboard almost price of another good flagship phone. It happens after I updated One UI. Before that I never had any issue. I don't know what to do. It seems like I wasted money by buying Samsung S22 Ultra

Let me know if you want to fix it on chip level and you can sell it on Cashify.in
later. Takes about a week to 10 days to fix it though.

Add me to the list of victims here. On Friday, 21st, at around 10:00 PM, while I was using the camera, the phone completely froze. It has been stuck in a constant loop for 48 hours now. I took it to a service center, and they told me it was the motherboard, and that the best option would be to sell it for parts.
Can we, as affected users, take legal action against Samsung? It seems that many of us are affected. I am writing from Chile.

Another victim to this new update. Updated a couple evenings ago, have noticed the phone getting slower and slower with every update. The next morning tried to open a video and it crashed then bootlooped for hours, reached the Lock Screen a few times but it would crash before I could try to reset the phone. The phone won’t turn on, won’t even charge now. I’ve contacted Samsung and they're collecting my phone to inspect and potentially repair if it’s deemed a manufacturer fault. Will update when something happens, been left without a phone now.

It looks like I'm in the same boat as many others here. After updating my S22 to the latest update (6.1.1 February 2025 Security Update) about a week ago, I noticed significant performance issues, and a then a few days later, my phone froze during a work call, rebooted and went into a boot loop.
I took it to a Samsung store today, and like others have reported, the technician wasn't able to connect to the phone and explained the motherboard needs to be replaced. The cost to replace the motherboard is ~$600 CAD. After declining the repair, a sales rep tried to sell me an S25 Ultra. No thanks.
I tried visiting another nearby Samsung authorized repair centre, and before I could finish explaining the issue, a technician immediately asked, "Is it an S22?". He mentioned they've seen a surge of S22 users coming in with performance and boot loop issues since the update and admitted it was likely caused by the latest software update. Unfortunately, they couldn't provide a solution either (other than a motherboard replacement).
I've asked the Samsung store to escalate the issue, but I'm not holding my breath. If this really is a widespread problem triggered by the update, Samsung needs to acknowledge and address it properly instead of pushing costly repairs or new phones.
Has anyone had success getting a resolution from Samsung?

Add me to the list of bricked S22 Ultra!
Mine started 3 weeks ago. Did everything that I was told to do even went to ubreakifix store (authorized Samsung repair provider) and told me that mine too had a fried motherboard!

I'm in Australia. Phone just died and auto boot loop. Quoted $690 to repair the motherboard. I am now waiting for Samsung to get back. They used TECWORKS in Banyo to assess my phone. No mention of any negligence on my behalf. A phone should last more than 3 years. I am 1 year out of warranty and seeing if Australia ACL warranty will hold up.

I am up for a legal action against Samsung.
