S22 Ultra Boot Loop Issues after 6.1 UI / Firmware update.

Hi everyone,

I’m posting because the boot loop issue after the One UI 6.1 update is clearly widespread, and I want to gauge just how big this problem really is.

Is anyone else dealing with a bricked Galaxy S22 or a constant boot loop since the update? I keep seeing new posts about it almost every day.

My phone was working perfectly fine before the update. After installing it, it suddenly stopped working. Now, it’s stuck in a boot loop, and on the rare occasion it gets to the home screen, it crashes and starts looping again.

I’ve tried everything Samsung suggested: clearing the cache, factory resets—you name it. Nothing worked. I even had a Samsung repair tech come to my house. They suggested my motherboard needs to be replaced but refused to fix it under warranty because of a small, superficial crack on my screen (which can barely even be picked up by a camera).

This hairline crack has been there for over a year. It has nothing to do with the motherboard issue, and my touchscreen is working perfectly fine.

What’s even more frustrating is seeing countless others on Reddit, Samsung forums, Twitter, and beyond reporting the same problem—yet Samsung keeps denying responsibility and is shifting the blame onto the consumer.

If Samsung wants to argue that my phone’s reboot loop is caused by a tiny screen crack, then what about everyone else? What about all the other phones with the exact same issue across the globe with 0 screen and cosmetic damage - and the numerous motherboards they’ve already replaced?

The pattern is obvious: this update has caused widespread failures and they are now charging for repairs wherever possible. I even have logs showing the update in question followed by recovery reboots immediately afterward.

It’s outrageous that a £1300 phone has failed in 23 months, and Samsung’s response is a £500+ repair quote for a phone which is laughably now only worth ~£400 brand-new.

That said, I’d really like to hear from others, especially those in the UK but also worldwide, about how you’re handling this situation.

If your phone is out of warranty, you’ve been denied a warranty claim, or you’re experiencing this issue, please share your story. Adding your voice helps build a stronger case and puts more pressure on Samsung to finally take responsibility for this widespread problem.

P.S. If you’re experiencing this issue, and have read this far down - clicking “I have this problem too” under the title of this post may help raise awareness

The person working with me said Samsung cant do anything in this situation. I told him many times that it is not a user issue but updates pushed to device by Samsung mot the third party. We ended up the call with no help from him. He said nothing cant be fone as your phone is out if warranty.

My S22 Ultra of 2.5 years also just bricked itself.  I was loading up WhatsApp when it just randomly froze, then went into a boot loop and started to get hot, before turning off and never turning back on.

I was on the latest OneUI update that's the same as the S25 Ultra my sister has.

I am massively annoyed that in just 2.5 years my phone has basically bricked itself because of these updates and clearly others are affected too.

I received my call back today. After going over some info with her, it was determined that because my phone is over 3 years old, it has fully depreciated. She was going to give me a free full repair of the phone if I was still within 3 years, which I would have gladly accepted vs. the partial refund I requested...could have just sold it off at least to recoup some of my loss. @raptor_claus were you still w/ in 3yrs of purchase/receipt of yours?

I believe it is class-action time.

Mine was just outside of 3 years, so interesting how they're making the determinations. I know there are multiple options for Samsung in the US. I wonder if it has to do with the locatin selected. How can they claim it's depricated, when they're supposed to offer 5 years of security patches?

Had this happen to me too today. Out of nowhere the phone freezes and then boot loops. Narrowed it down to WiFi and Bluetooth causing the issue, without them I'm not experiencing any sudden restarts.

That is really useful. Can you please share the link to that post?
I'd like to submit a complaint to Samsung and refer to that.

Thank you!

Hi I too facing exactly same isssue with my samsung S22 and service center says they need to replace the mother board, which costs more than current market price of the phone.

Phone has absolutly no hardware damage and no water content inside the mobile. after software update my mobile is stuck in bootup, & I purchased it 2yrs 10months back :smiling-face:

Same issue here. My Samsung S22 Ultra forced an update about a week ago. Normally I postpone updates for months, but this time it installed on its own. After that, the phone started rebooting randomly a few times per day (1–2 cycles). Next day it got worse: more frequent, 4–6 cycles. For a week I tried to troubleshoot myself—checked logs, uninstalled apps, switched between mobile data and Wi-Fi—nothing helped.

Eventually the phone got stuck in a reboot loop. Local service said it’s a common issue and hard to fix. Battery change didn’t help, OS reinstall (lost all data) didn’t help either. Only option left was motherboard replacement, which they themselves didn’t recommend due to cost.

After reading this thread, I contacted Samsung support via my country’s official page. They told me to bring the phone to an authorized service. There I was told that in cases like mine, the manufacturer covers repair costs.

So, contact your local Samsung representatives—they’re aware of the issue and fix it if reported directly.

Of course, all data is lost—my bad for not backing it up. Been a Samsung user for years, but unfortunately my next phone won’t be one.
