I recently got the base model of the S22 with the 128gb of storage. Looked into my storage after not even a week and 89gb are being used for the system? Is that normal? Like what are samassung doing selling some flagship phone with 38gb of usable storage. Please someone tell me there's a fix or its a bug

Hi @Mαяк

I have the s²² Ultra 256Gb storage option.

My system takes up just below 36Gb.

I'd expect your phone to take up approximately 25gb of storage !

Some people are not aware that the whole 128gb in your instance and 256gb in my instance isn't fully user available.

A sizeable chunk is used for the system and gated off for future updates.

This is why when someone is looking to buy a phone I try to advise to go for the biggest storage capacity affordable to be able to future proof their purchase as this capacity cannot be increased.

That said 89Gb does seem a large amount when compared to mine. 🤔

I certainly wouldn't recommend to try and mess with this Partition as this holds core files, and everything else required to run the phone and keep it stable.

Run the optimisation tool in your device Care which may help.

If you run a Google Search you'll find many ways of trimming off the amount of storage being used.

https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-to-clear-up-storage-space-on-your-smartphone/

Perhaps try > Clear Cache Files from the phone's System Partition Section  > https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-clear-the-cache-on-my-device/ You may need to insert your earphones or hook upto a powered On Laptop to access the Clear Partition Section. This may help with lag or stutters as this clears the phone of old/unused or broken cache files. There is also a Repair Apps option in the Menu System too.

Possibly a back up and Factory Reset may help but I can't guarantee this.

If I can be of any further help then please don't hesitate. Take care.  😎

I tried both of them and to no avail, I might try a factory reset but I want to try everything else first. Idk if there's anything on here that looks off for youScreenshot_20221226_101046_My Files.jpg

Hi Mark,

Allow the permission to Files by clicking on the info symbol in the Apps row. The storage space should get redistributed between System and Apps.

I have an S22 ultra with a 512 gb storage and the system storage is showing at 127 gb. It’s quite outrageous. If you know of any fix please let me know.

Go to "Gallery" app > click three lines on bottom right > trash > empty it

I had over 30 gb of deleted photos and videos there.
