Storage - cannot access compressed files

Hi Following issues with data and phone storage being full I have now lost my data from pictures, documents etc. I have compressed files and system files folders which I cannot access. The folders can only be seen in battery and device care storage and are listed against both internal storage and SD card.

They are grey folders but have no arrows 

next to them so cannot be accessed. My phone storage is still nearly full so looks like data moved to compressed files. I have connected to a computer but the compressed files do not show.

Compressed with what software? System files?

When connected to pc what folders and files do you see?

Thank you. They have been compressed by my phone's software, it's as if the phone had enough being full and compressed everything. The Compressed Files folder is listed separately to system files. When connected to a PC all the folders/files on the phone are listed in the same way as they are when looking at them on my phone through My Files but compressed files is not listed. The compressed files folder can only be seen by accessing the storage info through settings device care. Even ticking show hidden files in My Files or on my computer does not work. My phone is an A22 not S22.
