When im listening to music or watching videos over AKG USB-C original Samsung earphones, sound ocasionaly after a while audio started getting distorted - Its totaly random. It happens randomly, but when it starts, its goes on and on every few seconds. Pause the video/music and resume, makes it go away, but starts again in few seconds. when this happened, i disconnected the earphones to see if it will continue over speakers, but it didnt. Over speakers plays no problem. Then i tried another original AKG samsung earphones, and it was again distorted every few seconds. Earphones are not the problem-they are all original, tried 3 of em and they are not the cause.
Fact 1: audio gets distorted, and when it does, it dosent stop untill reboot.
Fact 2: audio gets distorted ONLY when i have connected USB TYPE C earphones (all original from Samsung)
Fact 3: audio plays normal on speakers on every volume
Fact 4: i booted in safe mode, also was playing normal with no distortion.
Fact 5: i tried with or without DOLBY ATMOS-didnt fixed distortion, was still distorted
After i reboot in safe mode, it played normal again, now after few hours , didnt came back. i rebooted back into normal mode, and issue atm didnt returned. but it will, since last time it did.
Im trying to figure out what causes it. (hardware or software).??
I have April update firmware and I already did factory reset after updating. Didnt helped. Since its random, and it happens only when using earphones, maybe usb-C need too get firmware fix? I read old s21 forums, some people got firmware updates for usb-c connector.
Maybe April,s Firmware S906BXXU1AVCJ did something to audio driver in S22+??? and need to be fixed in next updates?
Any help would be apreciated. What else can i try when audio distorsion comes back?
Samsung, FIX this!!!! (or im thinking returning the device)

Besides distortion also equalizer in samsung settings or even dolby atmos on the settings dosent even work or effect the audio over usb-c connected earbuds. Same audio no matter what i press dolby on or off. No effect too audio, while over bluetooth earbuds atmos works but its not working over wired usb c earbuds . Omg this is worse flagship i had in years. If this shi...t wont be fixed soon im gonna return the device demanding money back .

I think I might know the issue. I began by plugging in a wired speaker to listen to the clipping and audio distortion. To my surprise there was nothing...I used the speaker over 2 days and could not reproduce either issue. I concluded that the inline mic was causing the issue. There should be perfect sound isolation when the mic is not in use basically not on a call. But due to manufacturing issues this may not be the case. I specifically referring to the distortion. From my limited knowledge of the situation I think ambient frequencies are leaking into the cable from the condenser or inline termination connection. It travels to the input of the ADC function in the DAC circuitry and because there is no call present it wraps around into DAC function of the DAC circuitry and adds to the flow of digital signals that playing music presents. This causes distortion which can be heard in the headphones. I had a pair of £15 old sony earphones with an inline mic and was able to reproduce the issue. So I decided to purchase a cheap earphone on amazon without an inline mic (jvc explosive extreme cost £15). Both issues have now disappeared...this is only a workaround as I have to put my phone on vibrate when using these earphones so I don't miss a call. With regard to the clipping that was the result of 3.5mm connector...the gold plating had worn away and the tip and ring portions were also worn. The DACs in usb headphones/dongles are of low quality so any noise introduction can overload their circuitry. It's not to be compared to DACs found in DAPs. For me it seems to be hardware related as I mentioned before if the inline mic is not perfectly isolated when not in operation ambient noise can leak through the hole. I must point out this my subjective opinion but I hope this helps going forward in resolving your issue.

One correction, I don't have to put my phone on vibrate as I can hear an incoming call through the earphones. The inconvenience will be disconnecting the earphones + dongle to answer the call.

Interesting what you said about safe mode....if my suspicions are correct, it's not an issue with the phone per say...more like the earphone. For me, once the inline mic is out of the equation then no distortion occurs. By this I am not saying all inline mics present an issue just the defective ones whether that is through wear and tear or manufacturing defects. Once unwanted noise enters the circuit then feedback occurs which comes from the DAC in the earphone/dongle.

Martin, we already have original Samsung earbuds. Myself i have Samsung AKG original usb earbuds and the ones with 3,5 with dongle. 4 of them Maybe that "safe mode" was coincidence. I did tried it only once. Next time, ill try use dongle with earbuds with no mic, and test i your theory Vincent.

For me the issue is now somewhat resolved. Since I have been using the non-inline mic connection I .have had no issues. The music plays as expected. I can certainly hear the effect of the sound enhancement settings (i.e. dolby atmos, uhq upscaler)....I still believe the inline mic is causing your issues.

Moreover, the equalizer and Dolby Atmos settings on Samsung's settings do not function or affect audio over USB-C connected earbuds. The sound does not differ if I turn Dolby on or off. Atmos does not work with wired USB C earphones but it does work with Bluetooth earphones. I have never owned a worse flagship in a long time. The device will be returned and a refund requested if this disgusting error is not fixed soon.
