Subject says it all.
I can open the app. But the moment I try to make a call or receive a call, the apps goes on a crash loop. I cannot view the contact if who is calling me, i cannot hang up, and I cannot use the phone as the app keeps popping in front and crashing.
Resetting the phone is not an option as I have multiple MFAs configured and not easy to restore.
Anybody with the same problem or any solution for this issue?
I have already cleared the storage for the app, rebooted the phone multiple times and even tried on safe mode.

Finally FIXED IT! I did everything fix mentioned, clear partition cache, repairs apps, etc... downloaded Google phone which worked but could not access my contacts. Tried to message a friend earlier and my message app crashed mid message! Out of frustration searched for more fixes which told me to not only clear data and cache from Contacts app but to make visible my System apps and then force stop and clear cache and data from Contacts Storage app. I rolled my eyes thinking whatever...but did it and rebooted my phone and everything is working again!!! Go figure. What a frustrating several hours... hope this helps someone else!

Exactly the same for me! Apparently, 4 hours later after samsung tech support + At&t Tech support, I found out this is an issue only affecting GALAXY S22 phones I have an S22 Ultra. Via at&t, Samsung gave them an update 6 hours ago (its 1am central time here in New Orleans rn) saying that they have found the problem & know how to fix it. They say they are working on a patch/update to fix it asap. In the mean time, both tech services told me to use the Google "phone app" which still gives the error message but at least u have control over the call & it doesnt crash. This is the only time I've had an issue like this with any Samsung phone in the last 10 years.. but its a huge issue. I mean the PHONE is the main function of the PHONE! making & receiving calls is/ needs to be a TOP priority. 🤞 Hope they fix it by tomorrow bc this is NUTS!!!

At&t explicitly told me this would be a complete waste of time & $$ since it is a software issue. Also do NOT do a factory reset! You'll lose everything & ur phone app still WONT work. Via at&t tech support (these were options given to me by Samsung Smart Tutor that At&t responded to)

According to AT&T Tech support, do NOT wipe/perform a factory reset since you'll lose everything & it still won't work! It's a software issue that we ate forced to wait for them to send a fix. Mean time use dumb Google "call app" in the playstore & make it your default call app when asked. Ignore the crash warnings, even when I hit "close app" my call continued on the Google phone app so I guess that's a small win. This sucks Tho.. do better samsung!

I have all the exact same issues as you. Work profile and the CallBGProvider. This is extremely annoying and I hope Samsung resolves it quickly. I had no idea how much I rely on my actual Phone!

Have you guys cleared data and cache from PHONE APP?
Doing that helped me resolve this issue.

I did all that. Unfortunately it did not work for me. I contacted Samsung Care and the support advised me that they are working to resolve the issue and to use a Google dialer in the meantime.

I find it strange that a company of this scale would want to test a new update and make sure all the QC checks are in place. I was talking to a very important client yesterday when the phone started acting up. He asked me to add regional manager to the conference and I ended up telling him my phone is acting up and I can't. He thought I was giving BS. Who would have been responsible if I had lost that client?

Add me to this growing list. I've spent 2 hours with support up to this point. Google finally lead me to this link. Now, we can gather, raise our pitchforks, light our torches, and digitally whine very loudly about how much this sucks. A quick fix might disperse us back to our hovels where we can go back to making widgets for pennies.
Misery loves company and hopefully it loves a little bit of gallows humor.
