Hi all.. I'm hoping someone can help me out.
I've had my S22 U for just 1 day and I can't figure out why my PC doesn't see it.
Using a USB-C to USB-AI connevt the phone to the pc, I swipe down the noti. area, and there is the setting labled 'Cable Charging'. When I click on this It is supposed to open the 'what do you want to do' Transfer photoes, files etc.. But it instead goes to the battery page.
I have enabled USB debugging and Transferring files is selected..
Have tried a couple of different cables and a couple of different USB ports.
I've installed DEX (not sure what it is really), and that doesnt recognise when my phone is connected.
I can pair them via Bluetooth, but can only xfer files only, not folders. So music will take far too much time.
Win 11
Hope someone can enlighten me..
Thanks so much
Tracy

Same issue. I found the only way the USB connection works, is:
1. The cable has to be an USB3 cable (usually they are blue coloured) . It doesn't matter USB type C or A or ...
2. The USB interface of the connected device (PC, flash disk, hard disk, SSD disk, ect ...) has to be an USB3 type (usually they are blue coloured)

I can't answer why Samsung did it. I don't think the wrong cable could damage the phone.
In my case, before April 2023, all the cables and devices worked fine for my Galaxy S22 Ultra.

BUNK! I use any old USB C cable I have handy. They all work just fine.

I resolved the issue, as I was also desperately searching for the reason why my phone is not connecting. Long story short: I can access data via cable now. The Samsung devices seem to be very picky.
My working setup:
My setup & solution (long explanation):
Fortunately I could try out a lot of things, in the end, a proper data cable did the job for me. You have a proper data cable? I also thought so but they didn't work with my Samsung devices.
Let me explain what I did to narrow down the issue:
Every phone I tried could establish a proper connection via cable except my Samsung S21 and Samsung S23 (brand new, so I could exclude hardware issues on the phone). As I could already verify that the cable is not the issue as I was properly connected to other phones with that cable, I searched for issues on my Samsung phones and computers. Nothing worked. In the end I made it work by using a thick but short (~15cm) data cable that I received along with an external SSD. It worked. My S21 and S23 were finally recognized by PC and I could access data. But there was another issue: The connection was super slow. It took ~10 minutes to load the root folder structure, another ~10 minutes to load the "DCIM" folder and it takes forever loading the "Camera" folder to display videos and pictures. Therefore I did not even try to access/backup data.
As I wasn't happy with what I found out on my Windows 10 PC I head over to my Windows 11 machine just to make sure it's not the PC/operating system: The Samsung device was recognized with the cable, but there were no subfolders when I opened up the device (C:\Samsung S21). I installed the Samsung USB drivers (mentioned above) on that Windows 11 Machine, rebooted, plugged the S21 in and that worked. And it's fast!
Next was my MacBook:
I tried connecting the phone to the MacBook but it wasn't working. I installed MacDroid (mentioned above) which also did the job for me.
As a result I really think that there is an issue with the drivers on the Samsung devices. Due to the fact that every smartphone I tried worked except the S21 and S23, I think the issue is with drivers and the devices are really picky when it comes to the drivers needed.
I hope I could help.

I found out, when I use a particular old USB3 cable, after that, the connection doesn't work for any cable I have. It seemed to me like the cable has damaged the phone. So, I threw the cable in the trash. I didn't use the USB connection for some time, because I thought my S22 ultra doesn't work. After some weeks, I don't know how, all "decent" cables start to work fine. Happy with that, but also perplexed without knowing the reason.

Hi Rocatah, I faced the same issue. My cable was connected to the laptop through a docking station. I removed it from the dock and connected with the PC directly, it helped to connect my Samsung S22 Ultra to the PC. Then I was able to transfer data through the cable.
