On my S9+ I can use the Direct Call feature to dial from my contacts or messages screen.  This is a very useful feature for my situation.  I'm visually impaired and any method that reduces the visual interaction needed with phone is good (vice isn't always reliable for some contact names).  I've just been trying to buy an S22 Ultra and looked for the Direct Call feature whilst in the shop but failed.  Has this feature, as implemented in the S9+, been deprecated from the UI/OS in the S22.  Many Google searches have failed to pin this down - yes the 'edge direct call' is easy to find but that's basically a speed dial.  Can anyone help please? #S22Ultra

Function is still available within Android 12 running on the S22's, just needs enabling if not already done by default.
It's under: Call Settings -> Other Call Settings -> Swipe to Call or Text.

I'll try this on my son's S22 tomorrow.

@Members_H3XnTHo: For reduced interactions with the phone's screen when answering/ending calls, I recommend heading to the Phone app > Tap the 3 dots in the top right > Settings > Answering and ending calls > Press Volume up to answer (toggle this on) > Press Side key to end calls (toggle this on).

I also recommend exploring Settings > Accessibility > Visibility enhancements to adjust the colour, clarity and font size of the operating system, for improved visibility. I hope this helps.
