As the title says, my S22 started experiencing a problem with the locking feature after the One UI 6 update. On January 4th 2024 in the middle of the day I was unable to unlock my phone with my fingerprint. I kept getting something along the lines of "Fingerprint data has been corrupted, please use the pattern to unlock your device". Problem was that even the pattern wasnt working anymore and it kept telling me "wrong pattern". I did a force restart by holding down the power button and volume down button. Once it restarted it started working normally up to 3x when unlocking before the problem started happening again. Now after 2 days it doesnt work at all and i had to remove the locking type and change it to swipe since thats the only way i can unlock my phone at this point. If i try to change it to any other locking type it tells me "Lock type has already been changed. Please try using the new lock type". I have performed both "wipe cache partition" in recovery mode and factory resetting my device but neither has fixed my issue.

This is extremely inconvenient as my bank app requires me to have a lock on my phone to use it. I've tried clearing partition cache and that didnt help. I then did a factory reset and that didnt help either.

Is anyone else having this problem or should i consider RMA-ing my phone with my carrier, as the phone was bought in August 2023? This started happening at the exact time i got the option to update to One UI 6, i don't know how that could cause this major of an issue though.

Originally, i did a factory reset which was a pain but I was fortunate to have my old  Samsung phone that I could use to rebuild from. However, the problem returned and my unlock pin wasn't recognised again and so I immediately did a soft reset which let me in.  Again, my phone didn't recognise the unlock pin after the initial entry but I had fingerprint to use. However,  the next soft reset was required 72 hours later  as it would only allow me to unlock using the pin . I didn't do the soft resets consecutively.  I'm not sure  if this is the same for a pattern but I assume it is. Do  you have finger print set up?

My phone is an A25. I've no idea if the same applies to S25 Ultra?

Oh okay.  So it looks like I just need to wait for some miracle to happen or till I bring my device to service center. The technician I've talked to said there could be a chance with no data loss using the software that they haven't been using lately specifically for fixing software without impacting data. I'll update here next week for results.

Can you tell me more about who you contacted? Is it possible to restore without losing data? I have been without a smartphone for a month. I will try to draw one every day

Unfortunately,  the service center was not able to recover my data. All pictures were lost. Good thing, they were able to repair my device on the same day by changing the motherboard. So lesson learned, ALWAYS BACKUP!

So the motherboard is a problem, even though this is the last new smartphone?

Same issue here with the unlock pattern. Drives me crazy, especially as people say: Ouhou… contact Samsung Customer Support. Now Ladies and Gentlemen, I am sitting here at my sister's place, babysitting cats, and can't access my phone. I got my Tab9, my Google acc stuff, Samsung Account. What else do I need. The phone now tells me to wait 2 more hours. Soft reset just resets that timer. You are pushing software updates which breaks stuff. So you should at least make sure people can unlock their phones through other options. How do I access the phone through pin, if the pattern does not work?
