The Samsung app only allows copying photos to albums it will not move a photo to an album. This means the main folder becomes overloaded with old photos and impossible to keep organised. It never used to do this and you have to wonder what genious decided to change this but there we are? A good app made pretty useless.

As outlined in my post, Samsung gallery is unusable due to the recent bizarre change in functionality. What I need an alternative to Samsung Gallery. Any suggestions?

Oh, apologies. 'Google' Gallery. I'll take a look, thanks.

Hi, @blinky. I've tried replicating the issue you've encountered, and am still able to move photos on Gallery from one album to another. That functionality is still available for me. I've been able to do this with a single photo or by selecting multiple photos at once.
What happens when you try to move a photo (or photos) from one album to another? For instance, are you getting an error message, or is the "move to album" option either unavailable or greyed out?

Hi @blinky I do not have any problems with the functionality of the Samsung Gallery app either , I have tested it with a number of photos, as @PaulM1 has requested a more detail on the specific problem would be welcome.
However there are a variety of alternatives you could explore if you wish in addition to Google Photos, see more information here https://www.androidauthority.com/best-gallery-apps-android-687764/
I do not work for Samsung or make Samsung Products but provide independent advice and valuable contributions.

The problem is not copying photos to a folder, it is the fact that it is not possible to 'move' photos to albums. When copying a photo to an album the photo remains in the main camera folder as well, which becomes clogged with photos and too large to be able to navigate easily. This is recent because I was able to move folders up to the last but one update. I also searched the issue and found many others having the same issue.
OK, well, cancel all that. I just tried and the move function seems to have been restored. I updated a day or two ago - it was definitely not working for several weeks before that - since the last-but-one update. The function must have been restored in that last update. Thanks for your input anyway.
