Bluetooth audio cut off issues since August 2023 update for S22

Hi,

I have this very frustrating issue since the August 2023 major update for S22 (version S901EXXU6CWH3).

Bluetooth connecting, pairing and phone calls are fine and stable. I'm using the Phonak Naida hearing devices.

This problem only happens when listening with Bluetooth to audio or when watching a video (Bluetooth stereo):

Once in a while (can be half a minute, a few minutes, it's not always the same) the audio is cut off (muted) for about 1-4 seconds and after that short mute period the audio is back.

I can also state that another update from last year caused this issue and after a few months another major update resolved the issue, so it's very frustrating to have this issue back.

Of course that with other devices such as with my desktop PC Bluetooth and other phone devices it works perfectly. Unpairing and pairing and reset of the devices didn't help.

Does anyone else have this issue with their Bluetooth set since the August 2023 update? Is it a known issue?

Thanks!

You could try updating Google play services. Search under settings

Thank you DKZIE, there was an available Google play services update, but unfortunately, it did not resolve the issue.

I'm quite sure it's an issue in the Samsung update, as they already had it last year and only their additional update a few months later resolved it, well, temporarily until they did it again in August 2023.

I hope that Samsung will fix it soon, as their latest September update from yesterday did not resolve it as well.

I've read a tip suggesting to clear the Bluetooth data using the Settings-Applications menu, but unfortunately this option is greyed out for this application, even if I turned on Developer mode.

Any more ideas what can be done?

10x!

I've had this issue since I retired my Galaxy S8 and purchased a Galaxy S22 a few weeks ago.  Playing media through bluetooth using my Phonak hearing ***** worked perfectly with the S8, but with the S22 the bluetooth cuts out for 1-4 seconds intermittently.  Very frustrating.  This phone was supposed to be an improvement - not supposed to introduce new problems.

In our 2nd car we use a Parrot car kit (9100). In this way we can receive traffic information via a Bluetooth connection and, for example, play music via Spotify. Now that I have the s22, the phone connects to the car kit and I can make calls, but the audio via Spotify or other sources does not come through, even though it indicates that it is being played via the car kit. I read more problems about this and am curious how Samsung is going to solve this? It is a very annoying situation.

Greetings Stanley

Samsung software teams, whatever Bluetooth code change you did in the August 2023 update, please revert it! Or at least have it tested with more devices like the Phonak hearing devices.

The problem is clearly a software issue and not a hardware issue, as my S22 used to work flawlessly until your August 2023 update.

10x!

I've had the same problem with my S22 and Phonak hearing aides. After an update Bluetooth audio started cutting in and out.  No help from Samsung support or Phonak.  Did all the recommendations of unpairing, repairing, removing apps and reinstalling, restarting phone and hearing aides. No change. Hearings aides sent back and reworked. No change. After another Samsung update months later they worked fine. This was last year. This year after another Samsung update have the same problem. Obviously it has to do with the Samsung update.  Phone works fine with other bluetooth audio earbuds and headphones. I wonder if Iphone users have the same problem. Frustrating.

@JC54, thanks. That was exactly the same timing for me with the updates.

Samsung, please help. It's very frustrating.

It must be a software/driver bug which is unique to Samsung.

Should me, JC54, and all other Phonak hearing aides users trade our beloved Samsung S22 with other brands like Google Pixel or IPhone?

Would the S23 be any different or have the same updates causing the same problems?

No idea. I guess the hardware of the S23 is different but if the bluetooth/WiFi chipset is the same then most probably it will still have this issue.
