Audio Issues since Android 13 Update

I installed the Android 13 and One UI 5 update the other day and now I have an issue with audio and video playback.

I've noticed it's even I try to change the volume while sound is playing, whether it's a video, music, a ringtone in the settings, literally any sound. The sound playing plays in like 1 second blasts. It's hard to explain but it's like a every second, on the second it plays a few milliseconds of sound, like it's skipping.

This has basically made my phone unusable for media. Anyone else experienced this or know what is causing it? I have a Galaxy S22 Ultra.

I have been doing that but I also use Bluetooth. There are other issues related to the Android 13 UI 5.0 UPDATE. This is the worst Android OS and update I have seen so far and some people say it's the best lol. All you have to do is Google the audio issues and you can see how many people are having the same problem. What does it take to report a serious bug?? How long does it take for " them " to release the fix and who is " them "? It's not the carrier or Android because I checked which only left Samsung. So how long until Samsung resolves this issue??

I have the exact same issues that you have. Also with Google Home Camera Audio. That's when I first noticed the issue because it was choppy. Then I played a Instagram video and that was also choppy. I restarted my phone and it resolved the audio issue. The issue is connected to Bluetooth because once you turn Bluetooth off, it fixes the audio problem. Even playing Voicemail is choppy and if you try and do a Google voice search, it doesn't recognize what you are saying. So the Audio issue looks to be both Output and Input audio that is affected by Bluetooth.

Exactly the same has happened to me with my s20fe since the update the sound is not coming from my main speaker at the bottom, instead it's coming from the top which is a tiny bit of background noise! this is ridiculous, my friend also who has the S22 ultra had issues afyer the update!! I have always had Samsung, is this about to change? I think I'll go to Google after this.

I have found a fix on the XDA forums to this problem:

Disable the "OK Google" Google Assistant functionality in your settings. That's what fixed the crackly audio for me! I hope it works for you guys.

Same problem on my S22 Ultra after installing UI5.

This is the problem.

If screen is turned OFF and a notification (whatapp or alarm) should play, it plays in very short broken parts.

If the screen is turned ON then the notification is plays correctly.

Switching the 'SAFE MODE' has exactly the same problem, the alarm, if the screen is off, is broken, i.e. it plays short parts with breaks inbetween.

Technically is seems that the phone, with screen off, goes into some sort of hibernation.

Even with DND turned off, all battery optermisations turned off, etc, the same issue.

it's a bug. To prove this, turn on 'ALWAYS ON DISPLAY'.   Sounds will play 100% correctly.

Issue is as follows:-

In UI 5.1, a bug causes the cpu's to enter sleep mode when the screen is off and only 'wake' every 500ms.  During that period (150ms) any sound will play correctly, but when it re-enter's deep sleep, the sound is cut.

This has been reported to Samsung
