Bluetooth is pairing only for calls

What happened on May 20, 2022 ?

Up to that day my Samsung S20FE bluetooth paired properly with my watch so I received also SMS messages.

But since that day it is pairing only for calls - most likely same issue as in other threads with car connections (I tried to connect it with my MB which now has even Android auto but no success 😞

Really frustrating

PS my Sony WX ear buds still work also with net radio and not only with calls

Same exact boat you're in. Used to just start car and click Bluetooth on the car display. Now I'm unable to click Bluetooth. It pairs but not for audio. So you have to manually go to bt settings and adjust this EVERY time you connect. Really hope this gets fixed. It's quite frustrating. *sent from my s22 ultra in my car* 😁

I have exactly the same problem, my watch will only connect for calls.  I've tried unpairing and repairing this hasn't helped. When I look at Bluetooth settings the only option there is to connect for calls.  My car connection is OK though. 

Have we got anywhere with this?

I have the same issue buds connects for calls but not audio

@andymace: If you head to Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > On > Tap the cog to the right of the Buds, and toggle on 'Calls' from here, does this resolve your issue?

Same issue. Ive tried deleting devices on both phone and car and re-pairing , clearing cache on the phone, restarts, etc. The car is set to pair for both but Im still having to manually connect the phone for audio each time I turn on the car. Not sure if this is relevant but I did notice that when Im not connected and I click on the cog under bluetooth settings, the toggle for "contact access" and "message access" is on. However the toggle for "calls" and "audio" is off and won't turn on unless Im connected. And it is here that I need to manually turn the toggle on for audio once Im connected. 2021 Mazda CX9...Galaxy S22 Ultra.

Same Galaxy S23 Ultra and Watch 6 classic. Can't go any ***** higher yet just says connected to calls. No other options. It is connected to about 6 other devices though

Has anyone ever found a solution to this problem? I have an S24 Ultra and a VW Passat 2014 and it won't connect to audio only to calls. It's very frustrating. I had a 5 year old phone up until now that had seamless BT connection for calls AND audio
