Hello!

I am struggling to connect my Samsung Galaxy S21 to my PC. When plugged in with a usb cable, it behaves as if it's connected to a charger and my PC doesn't recognize that it's connected at all. I've set the default connection to data tramsfer, turned on usb delbbuging, and tried out differet cables (though I can't rule out damage to the usb port on my phone).

I thought I would solve this by connecting my phone by bluetooth, but that dindn't work either. My PC acts as if it's connected after pairing, but my phone just says couldn't connect.

I have windows 10 on my pc and android 14 I think. I believe I have transferred files with no issues before but maybe it's a false memory? Should I be able to just transfer files in the way that I was trying to or do I need some program? Does it seem like the port on my phone could be damaged?

Thank you!

Hi @Justanothernickname

Sometime it's because of cable being not able to transfer files and it's for charging only.

You can also try opening phones dialer type *#0808# (make sure auto blocker is turned off) and select MTP (media transfer protocol) or if that doesn't work try PTP (picture transfer protocol)

Also have you checked in settings is your autoblocker is turned off?1738765280671.jpg1738765280690.jpg

Hi @Justanothernickname

You may need to set  a default via Developer Options? Developer Options-Default USB Configuration, Transferring Files.
If Developer options not set up Go to Settings-About Phone and tap Build Number 7 times. Will need to enter password ,Pin or Pattern at this point. See more details here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/mobile-devices/how-do-i-turn-on-the-developer-options-menu-on-my-....

However if that does not sort it  try to reset the settings of the USB port of your phone. To do this, go to Applications and  Activate "Show system applications"  by tapping the 3 lines to the right of Your Apps, select ok.

Find the USB settings app and in storage, delete the cache and data. Restart the device and see if that makes a difference.

Thank you!😊 Autoblocker is off. MTP+ADB selected (there was nonoption to select just mtp). It could be the cable...

It was the data cable😅 I tried 3 different cables and the fourth one from the bottom of the shelf did the trick😅

Great news, as my first thought was due to USB cable being not data transfer one and just for charging purposes, I'm glad it's sorted now 😊
