The battery for really swollen and that made the back cover separated, opening all the seals in my late husband's Note 20. He's been gone but time to time I use the phone as I really like the camera in it. Now I can't use the phone at all. What can I do?

Hi there 👋 and welcome, i suggest stop using the phone immediately you never know when the battery will explode, seek professional authorised repairs shop and get this replaced as soon as possible, it's really dangerous to use phone specifically with swollen battery like that.

Hey there and welcome to the Samsung UK and EU Community Customer to Customer Forum

I'm sorry to hear of the issues you're facing in your late husband's device. Appreciate this can be distressing.

Back then when Note series were a big thing, there were issues with batteries swelling.

There is a risk when this happens (although maybe not quite so dramatic as @Iminvti suggests above. A small number did explode but it wasn't a daily occurrence.

So I would agree that it would be sensible to turn the device off and contact Samsung Customer Service to book a paid for repair. Given the age of the device, I don't think they'll do it for free but you could mention your circumstances and see.

This would be extra wise if you have special memories on the device.

I do agree it might not explode, but it's still significant safety hazard, and could leak toxic chemicals.

Just look at the note 7 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 my suggestion is to shut the phone down and if they can't fix it you can get a new phone and transfer his data to a new phone and keep it on and charge it to 80% every 6 months

I am just getting back to this. I had my late husband's phone turned off but I needed to get something from it so I pulled it out of the drawer. The battery is so swollen, it made the entire back cover separated. I live in the US. What can I do then?
