Hi @tayel
Are these contacts saved on the SIM card or on the phone's internal storage? Try to clear the cache from the Contacts app. From your phone, head into Settings > Apps > Filter option (top right next to ‘Your apps’) > Toggle on Show System Apps > OK > Tap on the Contacts app > Storage > Clear cache.
Also, make sure that the app is updated. Open Play Store > Tap on your profile icon (top right) > Manage apps and device > Updates available > Make sure the app is updated by tapping on the 'Update' option (next to the app).

I have exactly the same problem, on the same phone - Note 10 lite. Can't edit contacts. The edit (pencil) icon no longer appears where it should. Moreover, the Contacts app hangs if I highlight the default phone number (trying to copy the number, but Contacts hangs as soon as I highlight the number). I then have to force close the app.
Yes, obviously already tried the stock remedies you suggested, no success.

Not exactly a solution but...
I've discovered that if I wait, anything up to one minute, the edit button and other options magically appear in front of your eyes. Just bring up the contact details, and wait. That's it. Very peculiar.
Also noticed, if I highlight the default phone number from under the contact name in the detail screen (as when trying to copy it into the clipboard), the whole contact app hangs and has to be force-closed from the task manager.

The Contacts app is behaving strangely. It does not allow editing and sometimes gets stuck. I'm using Google's app until a fix is released by Samsung.

How odd. You were right it appears after a couple of minutes.
I hope they push an update quickly. It's truly annoying.

For those affected by this issue, you may wish to try moving your contacts to another storage location to see if this helps. With this in mind, open the Contacts app > Tap the 3 lines in the top left > Manage contacts > Move contacts, and follow the on-screen instructions.

Sadly there is no "three lines on the top" also. Than we cannot move contacts. Cache cleaning or restart not helps. Samsung maybe wants to sell a new phone.
This is a bug after the latest update and need to release a fix by Samsung.

I've found that if there is no contact photo, by clicking on the camera icon, it will enable editing.
But for all those with contact photos in place, this doesn't work either.
Samsung, please sort this issue out for my Note 10 lite
