Why doesn't USB-C audio work?

I am forever irritated by the removal of a completely functional port in the form of a headphone jack.

I've upgraded from my deteriorating A72 (bought because it had a headphone jack) to an A55 and bought USB-C to 3.5mm adapters in advance - both an Apple one as it was reasonably priced, and an average one from amazon. Neither work with my Meze headphones that work perfectly in every other device that has a headphone jack. I've tried every fix I can find online, but nothing works. Dev options don't change anything, clearing caches doesn't work either. Why doesn't USB-C audio work out of the box? There's not even an option for audio in the USB settings. Are there any actual fixes for this issue or am I stuck with a device that's worse than my last one?

I'm not buying USB-C specific headphones when I have a perfectly working pair that sound great.

I have the same issue.  My DAC connected with usbc works perfectly every time with my A11 phone, but only sometimes with my A55.  The fault must therefore be with the phone or software.  My A11 was last updated in 2023, my A55 has the latest software. I gave been trying for ages to find a fix for this and am at the point of just giving up.  Can anyone identify what the problem is?

USB audio player pro is not a free app!

Moreover, I want to listen to the radio with the USB earphone on my S24.

I suffer from the same problem. The USB headphone on S24 sometimes works but sometimes not. The same headphone works prefectly on my notebook. Therefore, I am pretty sure there is something wrong at my phone.

Same issue here, forced to replace my samsung A51 phone as updates stopped it staying connected to wifi, my new A55 is missing a 3.5 headphone jack, a very bad deliberate design fault in my opinion. Bought a 3.5 - usb C adapter with DAC chip but it doesn't work with any of my headphones. Things are going badly backwards not progressing & all leads to even more destruction of the planet, bad bad tech!
