When an update is available, you get a screen which tells you about the update and it's size. Most recent ones have been 450mb or so but they can be between 100mb and as high as 3.5gb for a major update.
When you select to update, it needs to be downloaded to your device. Again you have to confirm it to do so. You can choose to download it immediately or wait (until you are on WiFi for example). The information is there.....
Once downloaded, you are again asked another question, do you want to install now or schedule.
I'm afraid you won't get compensation. This is a customer to customer forum.

That's what it said on the screen. You chose not to read it and simply clicked install.
Sorry - user decision.
You should also remember that updates are usually security patches to protect your device. If you choose not to download and install, that's your decision but you'll be compromising your device security.

There's no need for xenophobia and Samsung is Korean not Japanese.
Why are you paying £1 a day, when there are lots of pay as you go deals which offer unlimited free UK calls and several GB of data for a few pounds.
Automatic updates don't usually happen with your mobile data, it's only usually with WiFi and you can switch that off.
Good luck getting your £1 back (you won't).

Well I hate to break it to you but it asked you to allow it to DOWNLOAD AND ALLOW INSTALL NOW OR LATER, pay more attention I can GUARANTEE IT ASKED YOU THAT! also it's $1 dude for one, and for two if u choose not to install samsung updates it's only gonna hurt your device and cause you more headaches than $1 is worth! Come on man common sense here! Hope you pay more attention and don't go trigger happy clicking away on these things next time, good luck!
