For me, the new SIM had a dummy number assigned prior to the port. After the port completed, some recipients (can't be sure, but may have been the RCS ones) received my texts from the dummy number.
On one occasion, I needed to have another new SIM sent out.
Probably worth waiting (as Fiona suggested) before crossing that bridge though.

Try putting the old SIM in your phone. Check the RCS setting. If it's on, turn it off. Then put the new new SIM back in and try again.
