If your Samsung Galaxy A72 is not sending chat messages and is defaulting to SMS messages, here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check messaging settings: Go to the messaging app on your Samsung Galaxy A72 and check the settings related to messaging. Look for options related to chat messages, such as "Chat features," "Rich Communication Services (RCS)," or "Advanced messaging." Ensure that these settings are enabled and configured correctly to send chat messages.

  2. Verify chat message compatibility: Chat messages are typically sent using Rich Communication Services (RCS), which requires both the sender and recipient to have compatible devices and messaging apps. Confirm that the recipients of your messages also have devices and messaging apps that support chat messages. If not, your messages may default to SMS.

  3. Check network connectivity: Chat messages are sent over the internet, so ensure that your Samsung Galaxy A72 has a stable internet connection, either through mobile data or Wi-Fi. Poor network connectivity can result in messages being sent as SMS instead of chat messages.

  4. Update messaging app: Make sure that your messaging app on your Samsung Galaxy A72 is up to date. Check for any available updates in the Google Play Store or Samsung Galaxy Store, and install them if necessary. Updating the app can help resolve any known issues or bugs related to chat messages.

  5. Reset messaging app preferences: Go to Settings > Apps > All apps > Messaging (or your default messaging app) on your Samsung Galaxy A72, and tap on "Reset app preferences." This will reset all preferences for messaging apps, including chat message settings, to their default values. Note that this may require reconfiguring settings after the reset.

  6. Contact your carrier: Some carriers may have specific settings or restrictions related to chat messages. Contact your mobile carrier and inquire if there are any limitations or known issues related to chat messages on your Samsung Galaxy A72.

  7. Contact Samsung support: If you've tried the above steps and are still experiencing issues with chat messages not sending on your Samsung Galaxy A72, you may need to contact Samsung support for further assistance. They may be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps or escalate the issue to their technical team for further investigation.

Note: Chat messages and RCS availability can vary depending on the region, carrier, and messaging app being used. It's always a good idea to check for any known issues or updates from both Samsung and your mobile carrier.
