Hi,
Phone ran out of battery so I charged it and came back to it in about less than an hour.
However, my phone suddenly doesn't recognize my face and the phone suggests, 'If this doesn't work, try restarting the phone' (something along those lines). When I try restarting it, the action requires my pattern password. I input the correct one, but it says it's incorrect. Frustrated, I kept inputting my pattern password multiple times because it was definitely the correct one (still trying to restart the phone). Then, my phone was permanently locked, even without the 30 seconds or 5 minutes warnings.
Now, I have to factory reset my phone which is a ridiculous solution because it isn't my fault that led to this problem. And what if this happens again so I have to factory reset my phone every time whenever this problem arise?
I don't know why charging my phone somehow led to this problem. It's frustrating that I can't access my own data because of the phone failure.

I tried this but as I am a 'not so mobile' old lady I tried to explain I would have difficulty taking my phone to a Service Centre but they continued asking for all personal details etc. and then eventually asked me to plug my phone into my computer which proved even more difficult as I have a vintage modem difficult to access. I asked if this gave them remote access to my computer but she told me they are not allowed to do that. I was in a panic as I would not feel I would be able to follow instructions so accepted a Ref. No. and ended the call. Is there anyone who could explain what the lady would have asked me to do to unlock my phone, if indeed it would have been possible. It was a new phone and I had not even set it up fully and had been locked out when I tried to put in the password to turn it off! On other attempts I know I had entered the password correctly but as it was a stupidly complicated one for someone not used to a touch screen something must have gone wrong so too many attempts locked me out!

Thank you so much for your reply. I would really welcome a factory reset as I want to rid myself of that 'daft' password I put in. Someone did tell me that if I sent it to a local phone shop they would have difficulties as Samsung have 'beefed up' their security on even these basic handsets. If I could get a factory reset then I could overcome the touchscreen problem lol. I looked up a shop advertised as Samsung Service Centre but small print then said 'not connected to Samsung in any way' which confused me even more! You Tube make it look easy using vol. button and power button this basic model is not shown even if believed it would work. I even found it difficult to understand the accent of the young lady trying to help me even if I made the USB port on the computer accessible so I wondered if I should now purchase a much needed laptop before I contact them again but I would just really like to know if it is possible to receive instructions from afar safely and if Samsung actually could do that for me. Would you know?
