I have a black dot on the top of my home screen on my new phone. I am wondering if this is a sign of something wrong with the phone?

Andrew and Fiona, the black dot does appear to be the forward facing camera. I have had Samsung phones before, but have not experienced the black dot (camera) on any of the previous models that I have had. My previous model was the Galaxy S9. Still getting used to my new phone.

@Iain-W: Where is the dot positioned on the Home screen, and it is persistent on all screens e.g. Settings, or just the Home screen. This is possibly a silly question, but could it be the front facing camera, which is situated towards the top-middle of the screen? Are you able to provide a photo of the issue to help with the troubleshooting process?

I can see that the dot is not visible on the screenshot.
Does the dot look anything like these in these images. If so it's a defect and you should return the device. It may also be a dead pixel.

@Iain-W: Its no problem at all. The confusion is understandable if you're unfamiliar with the design innovations that have been introduced in our more recent smartphones. The S9 front camera was housed in the bezel at the top of the screen, rather than being embedded in the screen itself. The change arose from the increase in screen size/reduction in the bezel width, and this particular design is known as the 'Infinity O' display (with the 'O' referring to the hole punch camera). With the Infinity U display of previous A Series models, the bezel would wrap around the camera in a U shape, however this is more intrusive, and doesn't look as sleek as the Infinity O design, which helps to achieve the near bezel-less look.
