after update to OneUI 5.1 my fingerprint sensor stopped working at random times. it fixed after couple of restarts. but after the recent security update, it stopped working and no restart does the work.
I searched and tried the solutions mentioned by others:
" i accessed the "checks/actions" but none of these applied to when you cannot even get into the scanner. I also accessed "Samsung Members app > Support > Phone diagnostics > Fingerprint scanner." but there was no fingerprint scanner option as it is not functioning... "
but got the same results as @PeteSa said.
when I go to the Settings > Security and privacy > Biometrics > Fingerprints, it says "Fingerprint sensor not working. if this keeps happening, restart your phone."
doesn't that mean it's a known bug?
why didn't they fix it?
no new updates and no ways to fix. what should I do?
Is it how samsung treats their customers?

@Some1too: Please can you try heading to the Samsung Members app > Press and hold on the app icon > Diagnostics > Phone diagnostics, then tap on 'Fingerprint recognition'. If the test flags any issues, or if an 'Action required' message is visible in the summary at the end of the test, then please head to samsung.com > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Contact us, and reach out to our Support Team via your preferred contact method, and an advisor will be able to arrange for the device to be inspected and repaired by an authorised Samsung engineer.

I did all the same as you have done on my A22 and in the end, I upgraded to a new Galaxy A54. This model's fingerprint sensor is built into the actual phone display, which is much better than the seperate side panel that's on the A22 I am finding.
Good luck trying to get the A22 fingerprint sensor fixed, but if not the A54 does solve the problems I am finding
