Currently when you recieve a call from a number and you want to call this number back but change like 1 digit because that person gave you another number from that same company, you have to (1) go to your recent calls, (2) click on the number, (3) click on the little (i) icon, (4) click and hold on the number, (5) copy that number to your clipboard, (6) go back to your "keyboard" tab in the phone, (7) click and hold on the empty space, (8) edit the number, (9) Dial it.
What you could do: (1) go to your recent calls, (2) click and hold on the number, (3) press "edit before calling",(4) automatically be switched to the view "keyboard" with the number already filled in,(5) edit the number, (6) Dial it.
Many other UIs already have this feature and I'm really asking myself, why Samsung never bothered to add this feature, it's such a simple change. Instead of only "Delete" in the context menu, add "Edit before call"

Why cannot we simply replicate the flow by google phone app

Not if it's not in your contacts

I'm with everyone on this. I just moved from an Oppo and I could do this before. Damit, I have a cheap ZTE and it offers copy, edit before dialling etc. I cannot believe the developers reply that people seldom do it. They clearly don't lead a busy life and I cannot believe the arrogance of their statement. I seldom post like this but I have wasted so much time trying to figure out how to do it that I could not keep silent.

Totally agree with the other posters and my first post just to complain too.
It's a basic feature and it's crazy you have to install another app to easily copy a phone number, not to mention Samsung now recommends me to use Google Messages on S24 but still keeps its own app on there.
The S24 cameras are also extremely disappointing, worse than the S22, and there is zero value add from any of the AI stuff. I'm also inclined to go for Pixel next time after using Note/Ultra for a few generations.
Samsung doesn't seem to understand getting the basics right.

This whole discussion "should we or should we not" is ridiculous. This a basic functionality, whether the devs like it or not. I know devs are lazy (I'm one myself), but there are limits.
I just had a call from someone from an unknown number. He actually wanted to talk to someone else. I wanted to copy the number and send it by SMS to the person, so he could call back. I CANNOT DO THAT! I had to switch back and forth and type the number by hand, like I'm on a friggin' Nokia 3210.

Same here. Samsung sucks and needs to fire all UX developers. Copy phone number is a BASIC phone feature that missing for YEARS.

Wake up Samsung. This thread has failed to be addressed. It's 2024 and not a sign of this simple functionality

This functionality was present in Android 7 on my old Lenovo P2. They are mocking us. They keep removing functionality that existed years ago. It existed in my even older Samsung Galaxy Ace 2! YOU HAD THIS in the past!!!
This thread won't be addressed until a big shareholder comes up with the same issue.
Dear moderators! Is 3 pages of frustrated replies enough for your developers? Or does it have to reach 100 pages and a press coverage?
Get of your lazy bums and just ADD IT BACK already!!!
Jeez. 🤦

Two years later. It is now even more difficult to copy a phone number from the call log.

This worked in my old phone (moto G7 power) but on this Samsung Galaxy s24 I can find no way to copy the number. Very aggravating
