A34 Moisture Warning - unable to OK

I have a 2-year old A34 and when I pugged in my charging cable this evening, it gave me the moisture detected warning, together with a double beep alarm that sounds continuously.

The OK icon on the message does not respond. The phone's buttons allow me to get to the power off and restart icons, but they do nothing, so I am unable to restart or power off the phone and all the solutions on here about clearing USB cache or rebooting into safe mode are not possible. The alarm sounds every 5 seconds or so and is getting on our nerves!

The phone was not wet and I have tried the toothbrush and hair dryer solutions. I have used various different charging cables and power sources.

I am currently waiting for the battery to run down, in the hope that resets the phone.

Has anyone got any other ideas?

Many thanks.

Hold the Power button and volume down for 15 seconds to force a power off. It's like pulling the plug on a computer

Further information - the phone rings when called, but unable to answer due to moisture warning message. Can also see notifications at top of home screen, but cannot swipe down. Phone seems fully functional, if only I could clear the moisture detected message.

Moisture warning means some of the contacts in the charge port are making contact. Either by moisture or dirt. Look up how to clean your port. It's a little delicate so I don't want to say something and you cause harm because of it. Dust is conductive so chances are there's a ball of dust touching the pins.

Be sure to have your phone off if you're going to mess with the charge port

Tldr, clean your charge port. It probably has dirt or something in it

Hi Arianwen - thanks for your reply.

I understand what could have caused the warning to go off, but my problem is that the screen is not responding to any taps, so I am unable to clear the message, restart, turn off or do anything on with the phone.

Many thanks, Arianwen - that's done the trick. All was well when it restarted and I can charge it with no problems.
