After an update last week, the A23 phone wont start. Nothing seems to work, it is completely dead.

SAMSUNG, what's going on with the phone and your update?????

Samsung Canada successfully fixed my A23 for free after their update bricked my 'international' phone. I do not understand how you (the poor owner/user of the A23) allow Samsung to use the, 'It's an International version; therefore no warranty". I purchased my phone IN Canada from a Canadian merchant (via Walmart Canada Online). Just because my phone will work outside of Canada should not VOID any warranty. My vehicle passes California emissions tests, so is my Canadian made vehicle an International version?  That is a lame excuse they are using and as my lawyer says, it doesn't hold water.

My A23 has since done the next upgrade and is working measurably slower and quirkier.  That was the last straw. I am now a PROUD Google Pixel owner. I have a large family and huge client base that I will be pressuring to make the switch away from Samsung. They could have stepped up to the plate and said, "Hey, we goofed, here's your free fix!", and their customers would have raved about the "wonderful service after the unfortunate incident."  Samsung's risk management made the choice to limit their losses by only repairing those that were persistent enough as opposed to doing a mass recall and repair. They are creating their company's own demise. Rhetorically - which of you will trust a Samsung product again? I, personally, would not want to go through the grief and anxiety I did with the loss of my phone for a week and having to persuade Samsung to fix THEIR error.

For those of you without resolution - try again. DO NOT let them tell you they can't or won't - there is plenty of proof here that THEY WILL.  Canada is part of 'International'. So an International version should have the same warranty as a non International version and in my warranty (International version) there is nothing I have read (yet) that specifies which country the phone is not warrantied in.

Samsung can suck it.

Good luck.

Well said!  My international version (also purchased online on Walmart.ca) was over a year old, and therefore out of warranty, but Samsung still arranged for a free repair.  However, as you indicated, I had to be very persistent to get them to agree to this.

My phone was also 5 months out of warranty; however, being out of warranty shouldn't matter in cases like these. Their update created the issue. Motor Vehicle companies have recalls on models out of warranty because the manufacturers are fixing errors that THEY BROUGHT INTO BEING. None of this is the fault of the consumer - even though that is how Samsung is treating their issue.  It's Risk Management 101. It's cheaper to repair the few complainers than have a mass recall - or so they think. That's why there has been no, Official announcement, of the failed updates.   If there are enough people that they are refusing to repair, they can approach a lawyer and say, we have XXX # of people who were impacted my a Samsung update - we want to file a class action. That lawyer would refer you to the proper lawyer - if he /she couldn't do it themself.   Suggestion to get things started: Someone should start a new thread for People who have not gotten satisfaction from Samsung. like "List here if Samsung wouldn't fix your phone for free." From there, people who paid for their own fixes and those that Samsung won't fix for free, can communicate in one area and combine their forces.   Just my thoughts and opinions. I tried to write as politically correct as a baby-boomer can. Sorry if I offended anyone/thing.

I'm Canadian but living in Thailand. There is a Samsung store in a local mall here the employee played dumb about any software update issues and sent me to a Samsung repair centre on the other side of the city. He said they'll fix it. I arrived there and again, no comment on any possible software update issue, but they will take a look at it and email me back to tell me this morning if it can be fixed or not. Nothing yet. Cost, if they can "fix" it is around $80 CDN. If they can't fix it, there is a cost of approx. $8 CDN for the service.

Best phones I have had were before this one: both Google Pixel. I smashed my last one while trail running here in the mountains and it's difficult to find another one in Thailand unless I order on Lazada (i.e. - Asian-style Amazon). I bought the A23 as a temporary fix until I return to NA to buy a Pixel, but screw it. I'll order a Pixel here and take my chances. Samsung - never again. Not because of the issue, but because of how they have handled it. I hope they lose a TON of business but unfortunately they likely will not because people are typically apathetic and do what is easiest and their product lines are so many and varied. Oh well - life in the world we know. We can only do what we can do, so if there is only one other person reading this - switch to Google Pixel. Incredible phone in my experience.

Just got my phone fixed today in Cunupia at Jumans Warehousing Complex. It's for $150 and they were pretty quick with it. I still am disappointed that Samsung didn't do more as I could not get on to a lot of school files because of the crash. Best of luck to everyone!

I have this problem too and when I reach out to Samsung, they are absolutely no help. My camera has stopped working. I'm located in Jamaica if anyone sees this.

I fixed it by my self at home after Samsung Egypt didn't help at all as they told me that the motherboard was burnt out and that's not true because I already fixed it
