Previously, I had an iMac 2017 and now have upgraded to Mac Mini M4 2024 which needs a third party monitor so I'm using a Samsung Viewfinity S9. Ever since I've been using the new monitor, my family have been experiencing echo at their end on their iPad. This wasn't there before with the iMac, and it's really annoying for them.

We've both turned down our volume levels of the speakers and nothing changes, I've tried using a JBL Flip 6 bluetooth speaker instead as the mac mini ones aren't that good, but there's no stopping their echo. At my end, there's no echo for me at all, it's all on the iPad. I also, do have wireless headphones, but they don't have a microphone attached.

The iPad that they have is running iPad OS 18.3.1 with iPad Pro 4 Gen. Any advice on what is likely to be causing the echo will be really appreciated.

Many thanks,

The iPad could be picking up sound from its own speakers, which might cause it to echo back during a call. This is common when speakers are too loud, and the device’s microphone picks up the audio from the speakers and retransmits it.
