Hello,
I have the G9 OLED for two days and have really lousy problems:
- when I start a game in fullscreen mode with the native resolution of 5120x1440, the monitor sometimes shuts down. There's no way to restore the image until I'm somehow able to either blindly quit the game or restart the PC - sometimes only the reset button helps.
- When starting certain apps or fullscreen applications, I hear a sound like a device is connecting and disconnecting. I also hear this randomly - it stopped, when I disconnected the USB cable from the monitor and ramains happening when I start full screen applications and exit them.
- I randomly have black screens every now and then without doing anything specific. And quite extreme: If I watch a video via any media player, enter fullscreen and move the mouse, the screen goes black for 3 seconds and then returns. If I move the mouse again, the screen goes black again. This goes on and on.
- I am using an RTX 4090 with this monitor. When I set it to 240 Hz, the GPU memory clock rate is not downclocked when the PC is idle. That means the GPU memory clock (not GPU clock) is always running at max clock, which is not ideal for power consumption and temperatures.
I use a Display Port 1.4 cable with 32.4 Gbit/s, but also have an HDMI 2.1 cable with 48 gbit/s. This happens with both cables. As soon as I lower the monitor Hz to 120, the memory MHz goes back to the correct idle value, as it should. Is this a normal behavior?
- when I turn off VRR on the monitor, it is no longer possible to set the native resolution.
The monitor is running on the latest firmware version 1023.
These are honestly such massive problems that I am almost determined to return this monitor to Samsung as soon as possible.
Any input from more experienced Samsung users who have been able to remedy these issues?
Thanks so much!

Ditto. My screen still flashes when I log into Windows. Still getting black screen and still cannot view my BIOS and/or BIOS logo screen.

I just got the odyssey g9 yesterday and I had the issue where my screen would go black after switching out of games. I was so annoyed I was about to return the monitor, but I think I found a solution. I left HDR turned on in windows but I turned off the auto HDR setting. Ever since I did this I haven’t had the screen go black when exiting games. Samsung really needs to get these things sorted out. No way I should spend over 1000 dollars on an monitor and have to deal with this. I think it has something to do with nvidia’s hdr settings not working well with auto hdr. I have a 4080 super as well.

the same glitch on my monitor type is "LS49CG954SCXXF", when i turn on my computer, there is no screen, and i need to plug and unplug the data DP cable to get back to normal. adaptive-sync mode is turned on, and the refresh rate is 240hz

Unfortunately, another one here joining this issue thread - only got the monitor last month.
All drivers up-to-date, new cables tried, both HDMI2.1 and the display port that comes with it.

Not sure which specific model of monitor you have, but for mine the latest firmware is 2000, which still did not resolve the issue. They are sending someone to replace the board in the monitor, but I highly doubt it will resolve the issue.

According to my research; Most users have solved this problem with a high-quality HDMI 2.1 cable. Nvidia users solved it by turning off gsync and turning off fullscreen gsync. They stated that the problem persists when connected via DP. I continue to research. The reason why my version is different is because my monitor is not the smart TV one.

I have an HMDI 2.1 cable coming via Amazon, meanwhile, I can say that turning off gsync in Nvidia control panel settings has stopped the multiple blackouts.
I still get one blackout when quitting a high-end graphics game but that’s all.
Previously, I was getting four to six blackouts and screen refreshing when gsync was turned on. I think it also has something to do with VRR on the TV settings, which attempts to use AI to control the GPU from Samsung software.
It attempts to do this to get the best picture, but in my case it was crashing and rebooting my PC.
Hopefully turning off gsync means that my graphics wont be missing out on the top settings.

This shouldn't be acceptable. Turning off one of the main features of the unit (GSYNC/Activesync) for it to work somewhat satisfactory is not good.
