Odyssey G9 Removes Audio Output When Exiting Menus

I've been through countless cables and speakers. When connecting a pair of speakers to the monitor via USB-C, the display can output audio to them only when the audio selection menu is open. As soon as it is closed, the output is removed from the list and reset. It's absolutely infuriating.

The Odyssey G9 monitor's USB hub supports a maximum current of 500 mA. If your external speakers draw more power than this, they may not function correctly when connected through the monitor. Consider connecting your speakers directly to your computer or using a powered USB hub to ensure adequate power supply.

The solution I found was in the monitor settings menu: Connection->External Device Manager->USB Input Port Setup->USB Port Changing Setup.

By default, for me at least, this option was set to "Change Automatically".  I instead selected the "Smart Monitor" option.  Then, in "USB Hub Cable Connection", I checked the boxes for all the monitor inputs that are shown.  I have no idea if this second step is actually needed or not, but all my inputs are being used for something and it seemed like the correct thing to do.  Once this was done, the audio stayed selected as the USB-C audio out when exiting all the menus.  Plus, when changing inputs the audio automatically changed to match whatever device was selected (DisplayPort, HDMI, etc).

Hopefully that helps your situation!
