I just bought this monitor today and its stressing me out.

I've connected my ps5 to this monitor and enabled vrr and 120hz in the ps5 settings. I'm playing spiderman miles morales in fidelity mode (30fps mode) but I've enabled 120hz displayed mode (which should bump fps upto 40fps).

The monitor does not like this. Anytime 120hz mode is on, the screen goes black every few minutes, as if the hdmi connection has been lost.

The main reason I bought this monitor was for the hdmi 2.1 port. But it's not allowing me to enjoy 120hz mode. Even the fps counter keeps glitches in this mode. It keeps flashing between 85hz & 120hz. Even though it should be 40fps or less. How can I stop the flickering?

I like to know if the issue is still present if you enable VRR again. I want to buy this monitor, but only if VRR is working properly after the latest firmware update.

After installing the update, the only flickering I get is when I exit a game that has VRR enabled, apart from that it’s fine. Just annoyed I have to update with USB as opposed to within the monitor.

There is a strange thing about my situation is that. I bought mine on November 2023. I immediately had this issue and my firmware was 1604. Yesterday I tried to install 1604.2 firmware with usb (which was released on January 2024) and monitor said you had no update to install. My understanding is that I already had this firmware installed on my monitor way before it was released to samsung support website but I still have the issue. Is 1604.2 newer version? or does monitor not show ".2" on its settings? Or can I clean install the firmware?

I don’t think 1604.2 is a significant update (hence the .2) so I wouldn’t change if possible. Try again with the USB and see if it works, I definitely wouldn’t clean install

Yes, it also works with VRR. I confirm, the monitor has not flickered once since I updated to January 2024 software update via USB , connected PS5 with hdmi cable as I described in my post, and pushing all the PS5 options to the max, including VRR. I havent tried other 4k 120hz VRR monitors, but now that I managed to get this one to work, I strongly recommend it purely on a performance level. My son completed the whole harry potter game with VRR activated, the monitor never flickered and the graphics were quite stunning.

I was having this issue. Not sure why it stopped, because of an update maybe. I did turn off the monitor disconnect it from the power source and remove hdmi cable. Then hold the power button for 30 seconds, again not sure if this helped or it was pointless.

Hello. I will be getting a new G70B monitor on Tuesday. I read on the internet and here in the forum that G70B has a problem with VRR on the PS5. I want to play 120hz with VRR in 4K resolution. Which firmware version should I download and install? Version 1602 from January 2024 or another version? Can someone please send me a link if I should install another firmware version? Please help!

Hello. Do you still have the update file with you? I wanted to click your upload link now to download your update file, but your link is invalid. Can you upload it again and send it to me? I would thank you forever for your effort. 🙏
