Why can't I receive messages on my Galaxy Watch? When the message comes through it says check your phone

Somebody please help me!!!! I downloaded a new message App but it says it's compatible with the App. I have a Galaxy S20 Ultra

do you have it connected through Bluetooth WiFi or LTE ?

In the drop down menu, select "Call & text on other devices" This will allow you to call and text on your watch. Thanks

When i pull the screen down on the watch it shows airplane mode,do not disturb,always on,brightness,settings and theater mode.

I downloaded a texting app called Handcent Next SMS on my phone. It's compatible i read the comments. The regular text app with the blue icon is already downloaded i don't know how to download this app that i have on my phone.

Do you have this option on your phone? You have to expand the status bar on your phone to view it
