If you have recently updated the Watch4 OS, then you may wish to check for any available updates for WhatsApp itself, to see if this helps. On the Watch itself, head to App > Google Play Store > Scroll to the bottom of the page > Manage Apps, and any available updates will be visible here. Furthermore, on your phone, head to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions, and make sure that 'Contacts' is allowed. As a basic troubleshooting step, try restarting your phone and Watch to address any temporary software issues that might be a contributing factor. Let me know how you get on.
