Watch 5 doesn't track distance correctly

Recently I've noticed when I'm tracking a walk or hike, my Watch 5 distance is highly inaccurate.  I've barely walked 400-500m when it tells me I've walked 1km.  I get to the end of a 5km walk (husband also tracks) and my watch tells me I've walked about 9-10km

GPS is turned on on the watch and phone, and updates are up to date

Hiya, Do you have Improve Location Accuracy enabled on the watch? Go to settings->location->Google location accuracy and make sure Improve Location Accuracy is set. Hope this helps.

Buy a Garmin if you want accurate tracking.

I find mine only works for distance when it automatically starts tracking my walking activity. When i put it in bike, walk or hike sometimes it doesn't register distance at all
